So in the last 30 years or so we don’t live in a softer , even wussier society than we used to? It was an honest observation/ question as to whether or not the lightning policy is justified or just another example of the fact that we live in a much softer society than that of previous generations. The “oh the horror remark” was not aimed at the weather delay but rather your insinuation that somebody had dared to bring up whether or not the weather delays may sometimes be an overreaction. Of course I’m sitting on my ass watching it from the comfort of my home. I guess I could have gone to Miami and toughed it out with the “real fans”, or maybe even go sit outside and watch it in the rain, but again the “oh the horror “ remark was aimed at your overreaction, not the delay itself. Not sure why your panties are in such a wad over that chief, but I hope you have a great rest of your weekend .
I did not state or imply that the lightning delays were emphatically a symptom of the wussification of America. I stated that maybe it was, or maybe it wasn’t. I wasn’t sure then, and I am still not sure. If you cannot see that we live in a more cautious/sensitive society than that of generations past then I really don’t know what to say to youThe wussification part was dumb.

FYP chief.... and I wasn’t pissing and monaing. Your reading comprehension skills really leave something to be desired. My original statement was that I could not decide whether the delays were always justified or perhaps sometimes an overreaction, which seems to be part of a recurring theme related to all areas of life in the world we live in today. In no way did I bring my own personal preferences or the safety of others into the conversation. I asked a simple question of myselfYep, because we have adults pissing and moaning that their entertainment was postponed because THERE might be a weather threat for the people at the event. You are a great example of how soft we are. Congrats.

It's widely known that a lightning strike can travel 10 miles or more. I don't know the NFL policy, but college starts a delay after a strike within like 8-9 miles. Sounds reasonable for a gigantic metal structure filled with people sitting on metal bleachers.I did not state or imply that the lightning delays were emphatically a symptom of the wussification of America. yes, and one would have to conclude that as long as this delay has gone on that there must have been a legitimate threat. I still wonder if every single instance when you have one lightning strike within 10 miles of a stadium warrants a weather delay, or are there times when the league/conference/organization etc....may be overreacting. I guess with human lives at stake you err on the side of caution though. It's widely known that a lightning strike can travel 10 miles or more. I'm sure a lot of the motivation is liability too. If they didn't have a strict policy and lightning hit the stadium during play, there would be tons of lawsuits against the league.yes, and one would have to conclude that as long as this delay has gone on that there must have been a legitimate threat.
