The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

Lol at throwing to Adoree right there. First of all he shouldnt be out there, second of all Marcus has no clue

Sigh

Get the win next week for the west coast split

Don't bet on it; the Rams are much better than the Cards and we couldn't do jack sh## on against them.

It wouldn't shock me if we end up 8-8 yet again.

Edit: Whoops, Rams are the next home game. We should beat the Niners but who knows.

I'm thinking we may still sneak into the playoffs this year, but we will obviously lose quickly. I think next year there is a big step back in terms of record and the coaching staff is let go. That's assuming the Titans don't decide to make the change this year, which in all honesty, they should.

I'm still sitting here dumbfounded that we threw to our rookie corner back on the biggest 4th down attempt of our season.

Part of me wants to blame our play calling, and sure it’s part of the problem, but it can’t be understated just how terrible Mariota has been.

I still think not having a real off-season has contributed mightily to his lackluster play.

Honestly, I’d take 8-8 in a heartbeat if it means this coaching staff is replaced. It feels inevitable to me anyway, whether it’s after this season or one of the next couple.

Then again, Mularkey was handpicked by Queen Adams-Strunk, so who knows.

I'm dumbfounded as well. He only seems to have a rapport with Walker, and that has to primarily be a result of injuries to both the receivers and Mariota himself.

The first INT tonight was because Mariota thought the WR was going to the middle of the field, but the WR instead broke out toward the sideline. The second INT, however, was Mariota either not noticing the LB sitting there or he did not put enough air under the throw.

True. This is how I’ve felt for a while now. When the players quit buying in, it’s going to be ugly.

I don't think he's gone even if we lose out. He'll get at least one more year. Next year needs to be make the playoffs or you're fired.

I personally wish he would get canned, because I feel like he's the Titans' Butch Jones.

It always felt like a short term hire. Hopefully, the time is almost up.

Playcalling doesn't account for the fact that Marcus keeps making stupid decisions. However, this league by and large still has no idea what to do with true dual threat quarterbacks. They have ruined Mariota.

My guess is we'll go into the last game with the division on the line and we'll lay an egg at home, but that's assuming we win next week. If we lose at SF (and I already think we'll lose at LA), the division may already be wrapped up by Jax.

Yep niners should be a W.

But as this team has shown.. anything is possible, unfortunately.

Mariota is not a franchise qb, our o line was over rated coming into the season. Our coaching is very predictable. Run, run, pass rinse repeat.

This year should be make the playoffs or bust. And bringing back the offensive coordinator would basically be malpractice.

The weird thing is that Mariota did not really make bad decisions in Year 2... at least not to the extent of pretty much every game as he has done this year.

That's because dual threat QBs will never last long; they take too much punishment to run, and that's never going to change because in the NFL QBs simply can't outrun the defense like they did in college.

Jacksonville has a pretty good chance to win out.

Mariota has always been far better at passing than he has been this year. It’s pretty clear these guys have absolutely no idea how to coach quarterbacks.

I agree it’s very doubtful a change will be made this year regardless of the circumstance. But I still feel an ugly end to Mularkey’s time here is pretty much a matter of when and not if. JMO

It really sucks too, because I still think Mariota would absolutely shine with the right coach and system.

Mularkey said Mariota played the game on a bum knee. I know Cassel isn't good but he has to be better than an injured Marcus.
