By this logic drafting a WR in the top 10 is a waste of a pick if you don't have a QB.

Generation talent is generational talent. If you have the opportunity to get it, take it. Doesn't matter the position. JMO

Yeah but that's hindsight, they got value in that pick. It didn't work out ..... Now does more often than not. Who else was a realistic option in that draft?
