The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

I posted the record since Amy took over and it’s not some horrific record like you’re pretending. Numerous winning seasons including a 12 win season that wasn’t that long ago

So why can’t they get there again?

You have to have a quality head coach to make the rebuild work.... So far in her tenure as owner, she has ran off the only the coach worth a damn.... While Vrabel had his flaws, there is a lightyears gap between Vrabel and Mularkey / Callahan..... And that while dealing with multiple drafts that were duds.

I’ll withhold judgement on Callahan given the state of the roster and short tenure. Agreed about Vrabel being a very good coach.

100%. The roster is great. They just missed at QB

PFF disagrees with you big time...

Their highest rated guy offensively with more than 100 snaps was Jameis Winston.

Jeudy, Jameis, and Ford were marginal starters per PFF. The rest of the offense was backup level or replacement level....

Defensively they had 2 great DEs, good linebacker corp and pretty much everyone else with 100+ snaps was replacement level.

It's why their roster per PFF was bottom 5 excluding QB

That’s what happens when your LT, RB, Center, and RT all end on IR. Along with your QB and 2nd team RB.

They have a very good roster. They were decimated by injury and also playing in a really AFC North.

Chubb was sub replacement level this year. Jones, Willis, Ifedi were 3 of the worst offensive lineman in the league. Pocic was playing at a backup level at center before he got hurt. Watson was trash. They lost guys that werent playing well before they got hurt....

He’s a guy (Chubb) who has been elite and you’re judging him on a small sample size. Jones played really well as a rookie.

Watson was trash, sure. But he wasn’t trash in Houston. So it made since to take a shot at him.

I, again, disagree. They only have a LG, and while the defense has a middle-of-the-pack troop, they are carried by Myles Garrett and Denzel Ward.

IMHO Until the Titans build there OL and DB's they will be no better than middle of the pack...There depth is a problem too, across the board...JMHO TIFWIW

But all of those players have a history of playing at a high level.

And PFF, while useful, is hardly the holy grail of football stats. There is a lot of missing information in their analysis that they simply can never know. An OL will often get blamed for giving up a sack on a play where the QB holds the ball too long. And Winston is notorious for holding the ball too long.

#1 overall pick plus 9th most salary cap space

Cleveland has salary cap hell at least 2 more years and only New Orleans has worst cap situation. Not a lot of cheap players now due to Watson trade...
Saying they have a much better roster than ours does not equate to saying they are in a better situation. The Watson deal prevents them from doing very much. But outside of QB, they put together a very good roster the last few years and a much better overall roster than ours.

People want to roast them for trading Mayfield away, but he had a poor attitude and wasn't well liked in the organization. You can act that way when you're Aaron Rodgers and playing at an MVP level. But when you're playing like a league average QB, that schtick gets old really quick.

Honestly, I think Mayfield getting traded and eventually cut humbled him a lot, and allowed him to get out of his own way.

I saw former Vol Reggie McKenzie is also a candidate we are looking at. That would certainly be an interesting choice. He put together some very talented teams in Oakland, though they didn't win very much.
