The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

Not sure it ever came up (it might have at the beginning of the month and I missed it), but while the Chiefs made the Super Bowl (which was one of the original stipulations in the DeAndre Hopkins trade as to whether the Titans would get a 5th round pick or a 4th round pick), it sounds like the Chiefs kept Hopkins' snap count below 60% of their total offensive snaps following the trade (the other stipulation in the trade...he played less than 50% of offensive snaps in rotation).

So the Titans will be gaining the Chief's 5th round pick from the trade, either Pick 31 or Pick 32 of the round, depending on the result of the Super Bowl.

All in all, the Titans traded Hopkins for a 5th round pick (#31 or #32 in the round) and to free up around $5.5 Mil in cap.

(I might also be wrong, though, but didn't the trade also create like $10-$11 Mil in dead cap space for the upcoming offseason as well?)

Yeah...I don't even know any more. Any management brains are huge voids.

With the group the Raiders have assembled, we have have someone to overpay for pick # 1.

Then, we can use their # 6 pick to take that guard from NW Maine St that Amy secretly loves

I am starting to feel like the most ideal scenario is the Giants trading up to No. 1 overall.

Giants give up No. 3 overall and their 2nd rounder this year, plus a 2026 2nd round pick. The draft value chart shows that to be a slight overpay for the Giants, but no team ever gets a "fair deal" when moving up to No. 1 overall.

The Titans then take Carter or Hunter at No. 3.

The Titans get 2 first round picks (this years first and next years), or the trade is ng.

Do you think that's realistic?

Trading down 2 spots just isn't gonna net that sort of return. Never really has.
If they can't net two #1's on a proposed trade, then just go ahead and draft BPA. Good chance the Titans will again be picking in the top 5 next season. They need to stock as many top round players, to work their way back into contention again. Until there is a real can't miss prospect at QB, the Titans should avoid drafting a qb in the first round like it is the plague.

All this to say that there is no quick fix.

I get that. But assuming you want them to draft Hunter or Carter, at least one of them would still be there at 3, and we would add picks.

Our best chance to get an extra 1st is trade down with Oakland, but that's a fairly sizeable drop.

If we take Ward, one perk for him will be significantly reduced pressure from the media and NFL fans in general during his first season. We were a dumpster fire this season and no one cares about the Titans anyway, so no one will be expecting a miracle turnaround or for him to ball out.

Sanders will almost certainly get a bigger spotlight even if he goes later in the draft, and because this QB class is viewed as so weak, more eyes will be on second-year guys like Maye, Penix, Williams, McCartny, Nix, and Daniels. It also helps that the guy he will be replacing was one of the worst NFL QBs in recent memory.

Wouldn’t be a bad move.
I’m telling ya…..signing him is a genius move for the Titans.

Nobody in the league would know if he’s being signed to be the starter for the next two years, just a bridge QB until next years draft, or as a veteran backup to mentor Ward/Sanders

Trade value goes up when nobody else knows what you really want in the draft…..

And …..Winston is better than we’ve seen in the last four years around here.

Rather have Fields/Wilson/Geno/etc if we are going bridge QB.

But if the plan is to suck again in 2025 so we can pick a QB in a better draft, then Winston makes a lot of sense.

I don't see it. We aren't competing for the division or making the playoffs next season, might as stick with Levis and get another high draft pick. (Assuming we don't draft QB)What's the point of signing Jameis, winning 6 games, missing the playoffs, and picking outside the top 10?

With the right moves, I think we could be a playoff team. The question though would be what’s the point in winning 9 games just to get tossed in the first.

The point to me would be WR development.
