The Official Tennessee Titans thread

There is a betting trend that says when a team plays 3 home games in a row, they will lose the last one. Last time it happened was 09 when we beat Stl and Mia then lost to SD on Christmas night. If the trend holds up I'll take the loss to Cincy because that means wins over Hou and Indy which are more important in the divisional standings.

Like vol4eva said, the Hou game will be huge. LP will be rocking.

I might be in the minority, but I feel like the ass whipping the Steelers put on the Titans will be good for the team. I think they thought they could just show up and compete. It seemed like Hasselbeck alluded to something like that in his comments to the press yesterday.

Anyway, the three home games in a row are all very winnable, although Cincy is a lot better than anyone anticipated and Houston could very easily be 5-0. As for the Colts, even though they're down, I still won't be comfortable about the Titan's chances of winning that game until they prove it.

At what point does Munch give Jamie Harper a chance to show what he can do?

You can add we found out about the character of the team. A valiant effort to comeback.

A desperate is a dangerous team. in 2008 they were desperate to beat the Titans after a bad start, and even though they didn't win they played better than your record would lead a person to believe.
Division games are usually close even when one team is bad, or has been bad.

About When does Harper get a chance to show what he can do I think the same kind of situation as the Browns game when Locker got playing time late in the 4th quarter.

I don't know how true this is but I saw on another site that Jason La Canfora reported on NFL Network we have been talking to teams about acquiring another wide receiver before the trade deadline, he apparently made mention that one of the teams were the Green Bay Packers.

Brandon Lloyd from Denver.

I would rejoice if we got Lloyd. He has great hands, which has been a problem for us with Nate, and has an expiring contract so he wouldn't cost much.

Hahahahaha. For being a season-ticket holder(!) you're not very good at watching the teams...

and you must not follow players very much.

In 9 seasons, he's only had 1 good year (last year). In his 1st 7 seasons he averaged 2 TDs a year and 339 receiving yds and that was with SF, Wash, Chi, and Den.

1 good season and 7 sub par seasons = mediocre. We have enough of those. Do some research before criticizing.

Find Brandon Lloyd. Find Nate Washington. I'll wait.

Also, it's funny that you talk about following players; you clearly just looked up numbers on a player you had never heard of until a year or two ago.

You're telling me he wouldn't be an upgrade based on his average statistical season; I'm saying he would be specifically because, having watched him since he was in San Francisco, he has always had better hands than anyone (healthy) on our team does--and that's worth the 4th- or 5th-rounder it will take to get him for a year. Not saying he's a perennial Pro Bowler, but consistent hands are clearly a problem for us right now.

Want to refute that? Or are you going to tell me that your season tickets and your skill at Googling statistics trumps all else?

I don't know how excited I'd get about it. If he is picked up, it'll take time to learn the offense and develop chemistry w/ Hasselbeck. I wouldn't think he'd do much of anything until the last quarter of the season. Plus, he's in the last year of his deal, so I'd say giving up a 3rd for him is particularly unwise.

We need help, but it's really tough for WRs to contribute immediately. I think I'd rather just see how Avery pans out first, although I wouldn't hate Lloyd coming over, either.

Just win, baby.

Schefter said we should trade for Dwayne Bowe;

Kansas City trades WR Dwayne Bowe to the Titans for second- and fifth-round picks: Kansas City invested a first-round pick in wide receiver Jonathan Baldwin and millions in free-agent wide receiver Steve Breaston. The Titans could use a replacement for Kenny Britt, along with some insurance in the event he encounters more legal issues.

I'd definitely give up a 2nd round pick and maybe another pick next year for Bowe, especially if we get him re-signed to a long term deal here. Too bad it won't happen though, the combo of him and Britt could be deadly.

Probably true but I was not at all expecting us to put in a waiver claim for Randy Moss last year either.

I just read this.

This would be something I'd really get behind if they got him under a long-term contract. The combo of Bowe/Britt would be among the best in the league if the Titans could overcome the WR curse.

Not going to get excited about it, however. Just an idea thrown out there by Schefter. No substance. Sounds really good, though.

I have serious doubts that KC would even consider trading Bowe. That's the least plausible of all of Schefter's potential trades, IMO.
