The Official Tennessee vs. #3 Florida Game Thread, 7:00pm ET, ESPN

Why keep running plays to him when he can't catch or make a layup if he does manage to catch it? Turner got his fourth foul and we never challenged him again. Any coach worth $1 would have went at him until he fouled out. We had the chance on two straight posessions and nothing. He could have called time out but noooo. He likes to save those for after we make a big basket to curtail emotion.

Maymon fumbled a wide open pass from Stokes. The play was for Stokes. Maymon tried to make a pass to Stokes in the lane, and it was terrible. Maymon missed a wide open layup. Ok, maybe I would agree if you put Reese in. But Reese doesn't make the defensive plays that kept us in the final 5 minutes. It is easy just to say it, but execution, execution, execution. Simple.

It is not Cuonzo's fault that we lost tonight, but it is his fault that we are as pathetically thin on offensive talent as we are.

McRae and Stokes are quality players, but no one else can get their own shot. Josh off a screen has quality mid range play and can hit the open three, but who else is there? Good teams can double Stokes and press Jordy away from the basket to shake us offensively.

This is not a tournament team. Florida is a really, really good team, but we lack the overall offensive weapons to be consistently dangerous.

Thats not the fault of Cuonzo's in game coaching, that is the fault of his recruiting and lack of player development.

This x1000000. Fair and well said.

Sometimes it's not what you do but what you don't do.

Like not lay it on the line to get a rebound, shove the ball down the floor with another guy laying on your back, only to watch while your very experienced teammate decides to go for the dunk instead of a lay up.

Davis stood around like the game was to big for him, he's a very inexperienced freshmen, you gonna trust him in the second half?

On the two plays I'm referencing, Stokes never went to the low post. The first time he was at the high post and was attempting to dump it low to Maymon who was posted up. The second time Stokes was attempting to dump the ball down again to Maymon who was posting up. Stokes was at the low wing this time. We never attacked Young after Stokes put his 4th foul on him.

How many turnovers did Davis have vs Maymon? Also, I'm not advocating Davis but there are others.

I'm GLAD Richardson tried to dunk the Damn ball!!! They miss more bunnies than my daughters 12 yo rec league team. I'm serious.
How does ANY division 1 athlete miss a dunk? Or WORSE... not even attempt one when that is the BEST thing to do. Go HARD to the basket and try to completely disgrace your opponent. If you miss, more than likely you're fouled. Simple. You can no longer play the game at the higher levels below the rim. Simple.

I am pretty sure Richardson thought he was fouled. He was going fast enough where a slight bump knocks you off. He looked right at the trailing official.

He was fouled. I backed it up several times. He bumped him enough to change his direction. It's a call that we don't get at home while FL got several less obvious calls in our house. Wonder why?

Now you understand how I'm thinking.

I am telling you that Davis fumbled one, too. And Davis wouldn't have been tough enough on defense.

Look, we are all Vols and want to win. I have been critical of schemes and such. But tonight we were in the position to win. Our players blew opportunities. Don't know much else you do as a coach unless you just want him to change everything. Missed layups, missed dunks, butter fingers. You can't win games that way.

What I'm trying to say that maybe after the 5th or 6th turnover and missed pointblank layup, you take him out. You at least don't make him the focal point of the offense which he did on three or four straight possessions down the court. I like Maymon but he wasn't in the building tonight. And I contend he wasn't in building on the other end either as CFL continually got rebounds over him. The definition of insanity is continually doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Maymon wasn't an offensive threat would you agree?

No, I don't agree. He had a bad night, weird night and over all he's had a rough season.

I will agree that Davis and Pops are literally no threat on the offensive side of the ball and defensively they aren't going to give you what Maymon gave us tonight.

It's been like....f' it...

McRae and Maymon fought hard as hell tonight, if they do that, we'll win against most teams, if they don't...they have to lead and for the first time ever, I saw McRae turn his frustration into leadership. We didn't win the game, but I won't forget that moment anytime soon.

I understand about the offense, and I didn't like going to him in the post down one. But I don't know who else you put in. Maymon made a couple of defensive stops on his own. I just don't know what else to say when a 6'7" D1 player misses a point blank layup. Reese and Davis are much weaker physically.

Why not reverse the roles of Stokes and Maymon? Why not have Stokes in the low block and have Maymon passing from the high post or the wing? Maymon is one of the best passing big men in the league. Why not go smaller? I like the line up of Stokes, Richardson, McRae, Thompson, and Moore. I thought Moore was more active on defense than Maymon and Maymon was getting rebounded over on the defensive side anyway.

You don't agree that Maymon was about useless on the offensive end tonight?

Stokes can hit the 15 foot shot. Plus, I am pretty sure Maymon missed a pass across the lane from Stokes. I would take Moore on offense but he would have been handled on defense.
