The Official Tennessee vs. Alabama Thread

Well guys,m I have to admit, I am a worrier when it comes to ANY game. As you know, Alabama always plays us close. They will come in here ready to play. I wonder how our guys handled the off-week? Will they come out rested, healed up, and ready to go? If we can keep the momentum from the Georgia game, we should do just fine, but whenever we have an off week, I get really concerned, because I'm afraid our guys could come out flat. They shouldn't for this game, though. If they can't get fired up to play Alabama, then they might as well not show up, but I'm going to be on pins and needles all week. It's going to be a very long one.

Actually I disagree with you guys about the rivalry thing, here's why:

Tennessee has had two weeks off and have healed a little bit.
Alabama just played an emotional game (albeit against Ole Miss)
Alabama is nicked and banged up
JP Wilson has a thigh contusion which takes a while to heal, if UT's defense gets to him a few times, he will fold like a cheap tent.
Tennessee will be looking for revenge from the loss last year
Alabama's offense looks average against an awful Ole Miss team
Tennessee's offense is clicking and Alabama hasn't played a similar high octane offense all season.
Alabama has Darby, that is all...8 men in the box, stop Darby and their is no Alabama superstar like Prothro anymore.

I could go on and on guys, my prediction is Tennessee wins by at least 3 touchdowns.

I concur. Tennessee will win easily. 35-14

Bama has actually moved the ball very well this year. JPW is playing better than Croyle and DJ Hall/K. Brown are averaging the same type yards as Swain/Meachem.

Their biggest problem has been red zone scoring. Their defense is not as good as last year and the team gets a lot of stupid penalties.

Overall, if they put it all together -- they could be very tough. They haven't shown the overall ability to put it together though.

Yeah, me too.

Feeling pretty good about it though. Still wondering which Alabama team will show up... the one that managed to go up by 10 in Gainesville or the one that struggled with Duke.

I believe the Vols can handle whichever shows up, but I'd prefer a blowout victory. :)

IMO, When it comes to Tennessee vs. Alabama you can throw out the records, the injuries and the ratings! Alabama will play their best game this year against Tennessee.....bet on it.

I agree Diesel. In games like this stats and records mean nothing. This is just a matter of who wants it more....and I believe those guys will be wearing orange.

Early insanity from Tidefans.com

As alway when playing a Fulmer team, I worry more about our guys being cheap shotted out of the game. And any time you are in Knoxville, I'm surprised if you get a fair shake from the refs.

Lord help me, I have to live with these people all year...

"RammerJammer, Vols HammerBammer"
Theres your headline next Sunday.

I think this one is over at halftime. Vols win 42 - 13 but it will all be the refs fault. You dont have to believe me, just read the bammer boards next Saturday night. They will claim the refs screwed them and therefore Bammer wins national title #83.
RickyBobbyJimboJoeWillieTomBobParker Wilson will be running for his life all day.

What is funny is that I remember Bama fans making these same predictions last year, only to squeak out a 3 point win that we gave them. Anyone that thinks we will win by more than 21 is crazy. I could see 35-14, but no way we drop 45+.

what was it like 1990 that we were ranked #3 and bama was not even ranked and beat us 9-6 so who knows although i think we will hang 50 on them we should still keep 1990 in mind....:)

Bama will bring their best game of the season you can take that to the bank. Have you guys already forgot this Bama team took UF into the 4th Qtr giving them all they wanted? UT can and should win this game, but it will NOT be easy and their D will give our offense allot to worry about.

My nephew was born in Chattanooga while this game was in progress in 1990 16 years ago. His birthday is this Saturday so I am taking him to the game for his 16th Birthday! Hope it turns out much better than 1990! He is so pumped and so am I! GO VOLS!!

It will be a close game. It usually always is. We will win 31-21. Its BAMA so its going to be a fight.

At first I wanted to disagree with this statement. But then I remembered that the Vols have been suspect to the run this year. And that Darby finally woke up this past weekend.

We win this one- but I think Darby gives us some trouble. Closer game than you might think.

28-21 Vols.

I think that is a very good pick. I would be surprised if we were to beat Alabama by more than a TD. They were ranked 7th in the country when we went down there last year, and we were just pitiful. I just knew we were going to get blown out of Bryant-Denny Stadium, and we just lost 3-6, and who knows? Had Cory been able to have held on to the ball when he was going for that TD, we may very well have won. No doubt, it's going to be a close game either way.
