The problem with TBD (aside from their lack of a mascot) is that fans always look forward with great anticipation to playing them, but at the end of the season you look in the record books and... where are they?

That's why their fanbase appears stupid: no identity and no accomplishments. And whoever is in charge of their scheduling must have no clout at all!

Who was that old Clemson bag who waved the balloon noodle all game trying to distract our pitchers? Almost as annoying as the Vandy dandy Boyz whistler.

So if the BaseVols play Charlotte do we bat first?

and if it is clempsun the BaseVols bat last?

I thought the higher seed batted last but that was not the case yesterday at other games.

We will be the home team regardless who wins.

CLT V/H, CU H/H, VOLS H/V. Based on the step rule 1 Charlotte will be the H today against Clemson. After their game CLT will be V/H/H and Clemson will be H/H/V, so the step rule 1 applies again to our game.

Step 1: The team that has been the home team fewer times during the tournament becomes the home team.

I really believe he felt Grice was just totally gassed at that point, and correct me if I’m wrong, but I think he was at 113 pitches at that point. I think he was looking out for the health of his player as well.

I‘m also curious about how he handles his pitching. I love our pitching depth and tonight and moving forward in this regional will highlight our advantages.

I was surprised to see Grice this on the mound in the 9th but it looked like the right call for Clemson after the first two outs.

I'm really curious about this.
A question specifically to anyone who's been attending Tennessee games (of any well-attended sport) for 50 years or more:

From your experience, has trash talking behavior changed over the past 50 years? In public, are we coarser in our language, less considerate of others, or is it just that my memories have become selective?

I probably have seen more fights between those wearing Orange than vs those wearing the colors of our opponents.

I admit, I was questioning keeping Burns out there- so I suck because I was a Nega, but Tony and co. show why this is a great coaching staff. Three pitchers and we still have plenty of good ones to throw even with two more games.
Unless the rules have changed, I think you can throw them till their arm falls off, but iit's hard on them-- when they get too tired and crampy they don't do too well and most pitchers would probably transfer if treated that way EDIT: since they could injure themselves and professional careers.

You, me, and a lot of other folks questioned that decision. I don't think it was being NEGA, it was understanding what was going to be needed to come out of the loser's bracket and realizing with Burns coming in/ staying in (in a game we were trailing and showing no life) was going to make it harder for us to get out of this region as the winner. No one is talking about it today because it worked out, but I guarantee you, had it not worked, that would have been another blemish on Tony's record of misuse of pitchers in critical situations. I still say that's his one flaw.

Yeah, Coach Bakich could be this week's poster boy for "Life Is Unfair Awareness." After Clemson fans look at the stats from the game, by default they're gonna blame coaching.

If you watch his postgame presser, his decisions were well-reasoned and supported by the facts as he had them. They just didn't turn out. I found it sad to watch; he just sounded beat up and looked shell shocked.

Especially given what a good season Clemson has had, it will be very interesting which way they approach today's game: do they gamble that they can beat Charlotte while saving their best available pitcher for a rematch with Tennessee tonight, or go all out against Charlotte as a "no tonight" must win?

without a win against Charlotte, there will be no rematch against TN, so you have to see all hands on deck to save the season at this point. I really hate it for them :p

I questioned 2 situations, one-not putting the Clemson batter on in the 9th instead of letting him hit. Two, not attempting to squeeze anyone to go home. But, then, what do I know? Tony didn’t let me know his game plan lol.
The not intentionally walking the Clemson batter in the 9th inning was one my household was talking about as the game was unfolding. But what do I know, haha! What a game

Not sending the runner to second with Moore on third and zero outs to hopefully force an error.
But we won and I'm as happy as a duck in water.

In before the NEGAs arrive, and by NEGAs, I mean myself.

Ya'll were not sitting near the family section. The Clemson fans around the family section were jerks. There were almost 2 brawls when they said stuff directly about players. I never understand why UT or any other school does not segregate the opposing families and have the best security guard in the place between them and the home fans. Stop all the trash about particular players toward parents. When you trash a kid to their family, it's own. Then it gets interesting real fast.
All the Clemson people I know personally are great people, but they think UT fans are pretty bad. Must be an Orange Bowl thing.

Sorry you had to deal with that. Really. Hate that people have to get so ugly all the time and ruin otherwise great atmosphere. It’s especially ironic considering Tennessee fans get so much flack from the general public for being “classless” yet it’s a widespread issue across nearly all fanbases and not some isolated incident.

Everyone is going to have a different opinion about walking the guy in the 9th because he is the winning run. I don’t think I would put him on because you force them to get 2-3 straight hits to win as opposed to a possible one hit gapper. So, I have no problem with what we did.

I haven’t been following the baseball team closely but jumping on the band bandwagon. Is Beam our pitcher tonight and who is likely coming out of the bullpen? What if there is another game who would go?
