The Official Tennessee vs. Georgia State Game Thread, 3:30 PM ET, ESPNU

I told them a boat wasn't going to get it done and that we needed a chicken too.

Are we talking about the drive that was the result of him not getting a first down or another drive? If the first, yes, I blame that on JG not knowing where the first down was, us punting and them scoring. I like JG, but it is what it is.
Lol. Had 3rd and a foot and because the OL blows chunks, lost a yard vs lowly Georgia State. Come on man.

Good grief.....CALM DOWN ALREADY. Its the 1st game of the season and yes we've been sloppy but we will win this game. GBO.

I think people are concerned about the floor vs ceiling discussion that needs to happen now. I figured that the floor with an opponent this poor would be a 21 point win. Not that it'd be up in the air at half. So we have to ask ourselves if the ceiling is much lower as well. It's just logical.

Defense just gave up 110 yards but their inability to make a play on third down to get off the field is concerning like it has been for the last several years. We get them in a third and long and then give up the first down. We did it four or five times on their scoring drive.

That last drive was all on the coaches (and I like them), not JG.

You get the ball inside the 10 with 2 minutes or so to go, you can run the ball. Instead the were trying to let the clock run.......willing to take it to the locker room. But a couple receptions later it was like crap we screwed up.

They don’t trust JG. To be honest, I don’t either.

I really thought we would see results from the strength program this season, but it seems like we're still getting pushed around at the line of scrimmage.

How do we have a former top 20 overall player at qb in his 4th year with Cheney as the oc and get such terrible play out of him? Because we’re tennew. That’s how. Lol. He should be the strength of our team and able to stand back there and absolutely pick apart a defense like ga state. Instead he doesn’t know where the sticks are and slides short, checks down when we he has plenty of time and needs to take a shot, and doesn’t go through progressions and find the open man. That last play he had Palmer was absolutely wide open. He waited way too long to throw it.

I hate the we’re playing vanilla excuse. Mainly, because we as fans have tricked ourselves into believing this every year. It’s not vanilla, we’re just not that good.

Do good/great teams play vanilla. Nope, they go out and impose their will. Hopefully, the Vols will do that one day too.
We should be able to play vanilla and still be up 3 TDs. The simple fact that it is 17-14 at halftime to a Sunbelt bottom-feeder has red flags flying everywhere!!!
