That makes sense. I’d never seen him pitch and it surprised me that he came in and dominated the way he did for so many innings. 100+ velocity and several other very strong pitches to go with that fastball. I’ve not seen many relievers with even close to his stuff.Pretty sure they tried him in the rotation during the season but he pitched better from the pen.

He was a starter for Tennessee last season as a Freshman. Been way more effective out of the pen so far. That makes sense. He’s only had 2 days rest after throwing 120 pitches on Saturday. We are playing tonight/TuesdayWe shouldn’t be getting that pitcher again. And if so he prob won’t be as effective on 3 days rest. And they can’t risk using him in relief if they have a chance to pull the game off and face Wake for a sweep. So the odds are definitely laying with us I presume as long as we play ball.
Kinda like the Quinn kid for Stanford that pitched last night. He threw a 156 pitches in one game against Texas in the Super..Not true…During the regular season, pitchers cannot throw more than 115 pitches in a game. In post season play, pitchers are not supposed to pitch more than 110 pitches in a game, and if they hit 110, they must sit out 3 days.
It blows me away. How many people are talking about seeing Skenes again after you posted this. Are there different rules in the postseason? Also, amazing how many people post things that they have no clue about like they are fact.
There are no pitch count rules — they absolutely could use Skenes tonight. Tanner Hall did the exact same thing in the regional for USM — 123 pitches on Friday and back for 30 pitches on Monday. But I don’t see LSU doing that here. Yes, they need to win tonight, but they also need to win Wednesday and Thursday (and ultimately two of Saturday/Sunday/Monday), and if they bring Skenes back out tonight, he’ll throw two innings and be toast at least until game 2 or 3 of the final. They’re in trouble from a pitching standpoint, but the reality is they are going to have to win at least three and probably four games without Skenes, so no need to rush him back tonight. Not to mention the problems Jay Johnson would have if he pitched Skenes tonight and then he blows out his elbow in the near future.

There is no rule on pitching restrictions. I saw that site, too, but I had never heard that. USM pitched Hall on 2 days rest in the regionals. Skenes can technically pitch a little, but Johnson would be risking it.
LSU is in a really tough spot, which is why they burned two weekend starters last night to try to avoid having to play today and set it up so they just needed to win Wednesday or Thursday (where they could throw Skenes if needed) to advance — he was probably hoping they could win one bullpen game on Wednesday or Thursday against a relatively depleted pitching staff for UT/WF and then go back to Skenes in game 1 of the final. But now they’ve burned all three weekend starters and still have to win three days in a row to even get to the final.
But that’s water under the bridge now. No need for them to panic and go to Skenes tonight. Seems much more likely he would go Thursday and then again in the final. But because I’m such a nice guy, I really hope he can enjoy the Wednesday and Thursday games from his couch with a nice cold beer.
