Which he has for some games (lost to Duke by 10, Double OT to Memphis in Maui) Just face the fact that this season is going to suck because we do not have the talent to play with TOp 25 teams or teams that are much more athletic than us (such as Memphis)

How many times do you need to read it before you understand? CCM refused to play zone eventhough our only chance was to control the tempo and stop them from killing us inside. What is so hard to understand about that?

Like I said I'm glad we got him......but ppl here are talking about pearls recruits sucking I was just pointing out that the players on the court were better recruits than the ones ccm has gotten so far......jarnell stokes I said we got out of circumstance bc he couldn't play in hs this year and couldn't go to ky or Memphis and play this year......none the less I'm glad he's here and hope he does amazing

Tennessee won 19 games last year with the Administration and the NCAA doing everything in their power to distract them. These people that try to put down Pearl's record at Tennesee are just mind boggling in their lack of understanding and just basic knowledge. How many on here think Tennessee will win 10 games this year?

THen why don't you start supporting him and stop saying what a horrible coach he is. Everyone wants instant gratification nowadays. Give these coaches time to build "their" program. Supporting them would go a long way in helping turn things around. THe negativity does nothing but hurt.

Wow, you really should go into coaching. If you think it's as easy as " playing a zone" and "controlling the tempo" you obviously never played or coached a day in your life. THe way Memphis was shooting 3's, I don't think a zone would have helped.

Get over yourself. This is just a game thread. I'm not writing for the News Sentinel. I don't think my ramblings on a message board will trump what people just saw on the court.

Given the history of the basketball program and this season up until now, sure.

I hope things turn around but just in case, I'm going to put that 30 point loss to Michigan in the vault as a good memory. At least they were in the tournament. I have no idea when we'll actually make it again.

Let's just say I was tearing up when Tennessee beat Ohio State to advance to the Elite 8. That's how special and how far the program had come. I'm going to give Martin a pass for this year but it's looking like it could be a while before Tennessee is making the tournament back to back to back etc. years.

I've never hid my like for Pearl but I just don't really talk about it because fans love to trash him. I've never bashed Martin and I won't unless the team is still bad after like three years. Until then, I just keep my mouth shut and watch. I guess I'll never understand why fans feel the need to bash Pearl though. Some of his teams were frustrating but there is no denying the results.

Anyways... crappy night. Both my Pacers and Vols go down. :bad:

Regardless, he had no interest in UT after Pearl was fired. The relationship he developed with CCM is a huge reason he signed with UT. And there were plenty of programs with schollies open who would have loved to have him.

We won 19 games last season with 2 Top 10 recruits of which one was a 1st round draft pick. I would say we definitely underachieved. Just so you know, I loved coach Pearl..

As for this season, I think we will win 10 games, but not many more than that this season.

Actually I have and playing man agaist a team that likes to run and has superior talent is just asking to get run out of the building. Maybe it wouldn't have helped but I would have at least tried. Plus used a couple more timeouts to try and spur their runs but that's typical CCM
