I will actually be going through Chicago on Friday. Someone (txbo) needs to show up in Hattiesburg with a checkerboard jersey on to represent. I'm going to Montana, leaving Thursday for mission trip again. Riding motorcyle and will be driving on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. When people asked how I could miss my answer is I don't pitch or hit or field. I can cheer from wherever I am watching. So if you hear of a guy in upper Montana sitting in a McDonalds or Applebee's shouting at the top of his lungs, Go Vols. It's me. I'll probably have my checkerboard jersey on also. I'm meeting Kirby for lunch Thursday and told him I'm coming back through Omaha. He better be there too.

So wait… are your tickets for sale….?

I have an old friend that is a Southern Miss alum. He was of no help. LOL. I got “lucky” in the StubHub que and bought 4 GA/SRO seats for Sat for $1,023.51. The fees on StubHub are absurd—they were $200 ea before “fees”. @Volstylexx lmk if you want one. Same goes for @Volprofch05 or @cobbwebb0710 . 🍊👍😀😃👊🍊

What’s the total for the weekend? I’d prefer not to stand all weekend but have a feeling that’s exactly where I’m going to end up given there’s no tickets.

C' Mon man you know he has your back!!!!!!!!, I will be watching from home in the recliner with my broiled Salmon looking for you in the treehouse

This is going to be such a big deal in Hattiesburg, the Applebees may reopen.

It is cool for Hattiesburg and Mississippi to host the super regionals because Mississippi is one of the poorest states in the country and this event will bring in some much needed $$$ to boost their economy.

The NCAA should make a sizable contribution to the special olympics, in Indiana State’s name. Apparently they have a huge special olympics event every year and this year it coincides with the Supers and that’s why they are not hosting.
That would require the NCAA to have class, ethics, and integrity. It has none of those.

so are there no tickets available? this is pretty close to my neck of the woods and wouldn't be opposed to making the trip if the weather isn't complete garbage

I suspect as folks receive their tickets you will see them available on the typical outlets for a small fortune. Some already available on Stubhub.

i hear you. I hate the thought of not having a seat for the whole weekend. I also ordered 4 from UT but not sure if I will get them. SRO was $225 ea on Sun and $200 ea on Mon (if applicable). The 4 tix from UT were a total of $330 all in.

Do you really think they have a clue about the weather in 4 days? Besides, there’s basically a chance of thunderstorms every day in June in the South. One thing is for sure, it will be hot and humid.

I do think they have at least some idea of the weather in 4 days, yes lol. I don’t think meteorologists are completely lying to us all the time. They have at least some ability to project and track storm fronts as they move. I’m hopeful that they’re wrong this time though! I want nice weather for this weekend

IDK and he has become happy with his role, maybe not completely satisfied, but understands his role. I think because they know he can go all three days in a weekend and want him if they get in a bind. He is second now in all time appearances for a career and in a season and bumped himself and some guy named Helton from second to third. So he is second and third in season high appearances. Plus like 6/7 in career era. If he comes back next year and pitches the 30 innings he has had last 2 years he will blow the career appearances out of the water and I don't see anyone touching it. Plus he is second in SEC appearances this year and like 11th in NCAA with no one above him still playing. So that will be his legacy on the field which is not near as important as his legacy off the field. I don't say that to brag but to help understand how he/we deal with it. The appearance thing has made it easier for him to handle the short appearances. One of our guys said the other day that everyone wants to pitch as often as Kirby but no one wants to come into a game in the situations Kirby comes in or be in the bullpen as much as he is. He went 18 straight appearances with at least 2 guys on when he came in.

The jokes about Mississippi’s economy and Southern Miss and Hattiesburg….y’all are pretty original and I bet they have never heard those before !!

Quit whining and let’s play the games, as someone said above, none of this matters and it’s time to play. If we wanted to host a Super we should have placed better than 9 or whatever in the SEC.

Southern Miss’ baseball program has been better than Tennessee over the last about 20 years other than the last 2. And Hattiesburg is an amazing baseball environment with amazing fans who love a good time. Go earn it this weekend.

He does a lot of good work, wasn't a knock on him at all.
Him being good is why I want to see him more.

Just a little anecdotal story for you... my wife, who is about as fringe a baseball fan as you can be, would tell you her favorite Vol player is your son. Like, she knows sports, but not really baseball. But we had the game on the other day with some friends over, and as the camera panned onto Kirby in the dugout, she started relaying to our non-Vol friends all the details she knows about Kirby (she knows like 0 of the other players by name): the handlebar mustache, retrieving foul balls, dad's a pastor, etc.

This lasted about 5 seconds until the camera then focused in on Vitello, and I could just tell in that moment that these women sitting on our couch were cheating on their husbands in their head. So, while none of them will remember your son, my wife does and is a fan.

Someone with more time, ethics, class and integrity than me, should start a gofundme in the name of Tennessee baseball, for ISU special olympics!
Hey, I came up with the plan, someone else needs to carry it out.

I laffed out loud. Same deal here.
