Long term this delay is probably good for Tennessee. But short term I’ll just have to disagree with you. The delay advantages pitching. For Moore to come back with 2 strikes on him and having to protect the plate against a new pitcher he won’t have seen, it’s asking a lot for him to not strike out. He’ll have zero chance to feel the at bat out. Maybe he crushes one on the first pitch, but it certainly will be a lot tougher for him.
I think it depends, An hour or less and I think they run the same guy back.

I have no idea what this means. Should we have more fans there?
We were both 2 seeds that won their respective regionals. It could have been played at either park, but the NCAA looks at both teams and decides based on who they think deserves (has earned) the home field advantage. Sometimes other factors play into it like stadium size, hotel availability, etc, but if one team is ranked higher, they almost always get the home field.

Nothing to say that wouldn’t have happened without a delay.

Point of delay us giving Vols a chance to reset.
So. Here me out. You wouldn’t rather give CMO, the hottest hitter we have had, a chance against a pitcher that has given up a hit, hit batter, and thrown more pitches in this inning than combined through 3, a chance to bat with a 2-2 at that moment? Have you seen our first pitch approaches? Any good coach will call a strike and we will watch it. I’m sorry, but I disagree whole heartily and not even playing around here that it hurts us worst than helps

Word on the street is that a meth lab exploded in a trailer in the stadium parking lot. The game will resume once the hazmat team has finished up.

For those who don't know the game well:

You can't set a warm arm pitcher for this long. They'll have to go to their pen. Because we were likely to be in the pen anyway, this favors the Vols.

Facts. My concern is we have our best hitter at the plate with a 2-2 count with two outs. A base hit scores two runs.

It’s more difficult for the batter as he has to face a new pitcher and on this case, one pitch ends the inning.

Overall it benefits TN down the stretch but not this half inning.

While I love this board when the Vols win, there's nothing more entertaining than the post-season "experts" making thier inevitable "guest appearances " to pontificate the correct way the sport should be played.
Lots of scrolling going on. Drivebys make it easy to keep up with the gamethread.

Delay talk aside, this team will not win this series if Dickey doesn’t figure it out. He’s had a rough post-season so far. Did he even have a hit last weekend? I can’t remember. We need him and Ahuna to provide us something. It’s really, really hard to expect your team to win a CWS when your lead-off and 3-hole are slumping.

Well, this is far from over, but maybe we should find other things to bitch about other than getting “jobbed” with the super regional being in Hattiesburg and why they don’t have an Applebees in town. Personally, I see that as a plus. Anyway, USM is very deserving as a program. I’m more concerned about the god awful post season play, lack of offense, watching good pitches go by and swinging at absolute crap pitches. Maybe we come alive after this weather delay.

Well he could have whiffed on the next pitch or grounded out like his 1st at bat.

My point is about giving the Vols a chance to reset. Vols were going to the pen anyway.

Nothing in these games is going to prove one team should have been home over the other. Actually, Scott’s hit would have been a HR at LNS. It’s not surprising that the home team is winning. It’s actually a straight financial decision- as in, USM can sell 1500 SRO tickets.
