The Official Tennessee vs. Vandy Gameday Thread

Shake it off. This will give Peabody another DVD to sell. We've got an SEC Championship to clinch and a trip to San Antonio to chase. Indiana lost in Memorial Gym as a Top 5 team in '86-'87. That year turned out OK for IU.

Turned out alright for FL last year also.

Volfan55, I appreciate the dose of perspective. I really do. It would have been pretty easy for you to be petty after all the ribbing you took after Saturday. :hi:

UF lost to Vandy last year. Turned out ok for UF.

As I said, it just gives the talking heads something to talk about... UT will probably go further than Vandy in the tourny

Atleast they didnt storm the court.

that really sucks.

i think someone said it best earlier when they said shake it off.

UT will be in this situation again. i would be the house on it.

plus you always get one more chance at them in the SEC tourny.

Nice perspective, I'm shocked.:eek:hmy:

This loss hurts the least of any we've had in Bruce's tenure. Now we don't have the pressure and thank God don't have to listen Dykes and Nessler anymore

I'm sitting here watching two bubble teams kill each other just trying to be in the discussion to make the Tourney. I'd rather be UT.

And you just proved yourself as a "fan".

Right. I'm pissed that we played a horrible game and lost to Vanderbilt like 4 of 5 guys on ESPN said. The team was treated as a pretend #1. You keep thinking that I'm a "fan" though. I'll reserve what I think of you after that post.

I felt like a big turning point in this game was that sorry "charge" call on T. Smith. We went from being 6 up to being tied, and I don't think we ever got the lead back.

The most disappointing thing for me was seeing us lose our composure offensively towards the end of the game. We looked frazzled - maybe just a Memphis hangover. Hopefully, this will be a good preparation for the tourney.

well, i think most of us were aware that this game was at a tough spot on the schedule. Apparently we are all pretty smart.

As i watched the game, it became very apparent to me early on that this just wasn't going to be our night. i didn't think we played like we did Saturday. they didn't look like they were having fun. And Vandy looked like they wanted it more.

a result of being tired? emotionally drained? still elated over being no. 1? maybe a combination of all three. but you have to also consider, VAndy was just on tonight from the field. Contrary to the game in Knoxville, they were on fire early, and were consistent thru out the game. they didn't go thru any serious scoring droughts, as we did.

but, like i said earlier today, i have enjoyed #1 immensely, and also like i said, no. 1 today doesn't mean all that much, except for my ego.

as memphis found out Saturday, we found out tonight. when you don't make f/t's late and you don't get the off. rebounding performance we got Saturday, you can lose.

it didn't help that we weren't exactly lighting it up from the field.

the good news:
we lost on the road in conf. to a ranked team.....in a one possesion game. Sound familiar? Memphis feels the same way folks.

surprisingly, i didn't get real upset, partly becasue i knew this game would be very tough, and at about 2:30 mark when Vandy got 2 Off rebounds to keep that possession alive, i just laughed.

No. 1 for 2 days. Awesome.

it's about time we get some rest, and play a home game. plenty of bball left to play folks, i'm not ready to throw in the towel yet, neither is the team, and neither should you.....

i bet you are wishing you had saved your Sunday newspapers now aren't you?:eek:lol:

Go Vols. Beat Kentucky.

not the best game, but these are the same guys we were all cheering for saturday night...just hate the game was dominated by questionable calls...come out and be ready for kentucky

Agreed. We just need to secure the SEC and Chase down the San Antonio Trip. We will learn and get better from this loss. A Number one or two seed is fine. I am not sure that there is that much difference in the top 10 teams in the nation.

All of you guys were so worried about these coachless teams wanting CBP (don't get me wrong I love him) looks like they will be going after maybe another hot coach in the SEC.

I'm a biased Volfan, but the refs were determined to be the 7th man for Vandy tonight. I hope they spend the extra cash to stimulate the economy.

Some of you guys need meds....

It was a typical SEC road game...They hit the shots and got the breaks, it happens...Some need to act as if they have watched college basketball before, even if they havent.

They will learn from this, rest, re-group and be ready for KY.
