The Official Tennessee vs. Vandy Gameday Thread

well, as Andy Katz just said "polls, polls, polls, they don't matter. Tennessee is still my no. 1 seed in the East...for now, it is a fluid situaiton, but they've beaten Xavier, Gonzaga, Mississippi St. and Memphis on the road"

still plenty of opporutnity for us. long term wise, this loss doesn't kill us....i know most of us realize that.

good pick and welcome :hi:

Thanks for the warm welcome. That was a tough loss in a hostile environment. If Foster doesn't take over that is a different ball game.

What that game came down to was we just didn't play our game. Our ball movement was terrible as evidence by just 7 assists compared to the 18 we average per game. Both teams took care of the ball, which worked in our disadvantage. Plus Chism was not himself. Overall, it was a tough loss but there is no doubt in my mind, with no disrespect to Vandy, that the better team didn't necessarily win today.

I saw video of Bruce with the media yesterday at 6pm. He looked exhausted. It was the first time I worried seriously about the game.

Oh well, in the grander scheme everything we have come to hope for this team remains on the table.

My pride and excitement level is undimmed.

Get some rest boys, we'll be there for you come Kentucky time...

From Jajuan...

“No flow,” UT senior guard JaJuan Smith said. “That game had no flow. ... We’re at our best when we get out and run, and we didn’t do that.”

... First, I'm incredibly proud of this team. And make no mistake, every goal they have for this season is still theirs for the taking.

That being said, it is time Bruce reinforces to his basketball team that they are not always going to be able to 'get out and run'... and that there are certain things they must do when their game of preference is not there for them.

Make the adjustments to the game being played in front of you, and succeed at that, and you will find yourselves at the precipice of the the ultimate achievement.

This is an amazing basketball team. I can't wait to see this deal play itself out...

I think that Tyler Smith is our key to adjusting to slower games....or games where we can't get into the flow of run and gun. Tyler's touch near the basket was off last night - he must have been pretty worn down with the flu, because that is the first kink in his armor of consistency, IMO.

Watching that game, the difference between it and almost everything other game I've seen is that we weren't able to impose our style of game on the other team. The combination of not having much gas in the tank and the style of play that the officiating dictated didn't allow us to make them have to play our game. I agree we need to adjust to the game being played, I don't think I remember seeing one half court offensive play being run for 10-15 minutes stretches at a time, but I don't see us not being able to get into our "flow" like that very often.

"Is no one in the country is good enough to go to Memphis and vandy in three days and pull out two wins."
