The Official Tennessee vs. Vandy Gameday Thread

We lost this game in the paint. Easy buckets that our big men couldn't make.

Chism 2-7 (uncontested dunk at the end)
Crews 1-4
Williams 0-1 (at least he shot one)

Some of you guys need meds....

It was a typical SEC road game...They hit the shots and got the breaks, it happens...Some need to act as if they have watched college basketball before, even if they havent.

They will learn from this, rest, re-group and be ready for KY.

agreed.

Good news: Regardless of what happens tonight, if we do really well in the tourney, we will still be a 1 seed.

The bad news: I think Vandy is VERY capable of beating us tonight if for no other reason than the game is in Nashville in Memorial Gym.

Vandy has been playing well, they just beat Kentucky by 40, who we lost to. They have beaten the last 3 #1 ranked teams to come to Memorial.

But it should be fun to watch. This one will be tougher to win than Memphis, IMO.
well, you were right....

Make free throws = win games.

its that simple. UT makes those freebees and they stay numero uno.

hopefully they get it going come tourny time. if they do, i dont see them getting beat until the later rounds, and that will not be an easy task to knock off the vols.

you are correct aobut that also........

now if you really want to impress, what are the lotto numbers?:)

well, i think most of us were aware that this game was at a tough spot on the schedule. Apparently we are all pretty smart.

As i watched the game, it became very apparent to me early on that this just wasn't going to be our night. i didn't think we played like we did Saturday. they didn't look like they were having fun. And Vandy looked like they wanted it more.

a result of being tired? emotionally drained? still elated over being no. 1? maybe a combination of all three. but you have to also consider, VAndy was just on tonight from the field. Contrary to the game in Knoxville, they were on fire early, and were consistent thru out the game. they didn't go thru any serious scoring droughts, as we did.

but, like i said earlier today, i have enjoyed #1 immensely, and also like i said, no. 1 today doesn't mean all that much, except for my ego.

as memphis found out Saturday, we found out tonight. when you don't make f/t's late and you don't get the off. rebounding performance we got Saturday, you can lose.

it didn't help that we weren't exactly lighting it up from the field.

the good news:
we lost on the road in conf. to a ranked team.....in a one possesion game. Sound familiar? Memphis feels the same way folks.

surprisingly, i didn't get real upset, partly becasue i knew this game would be very tough, and at about 2:30 mark when Vandy got 2 Off rebounds to keep that possession alive, i just laughed.

No. 1 for 2 days. Awesome.

it's about time we get some rest, and play a home game. plenty of bball left to play folks, i'm not ready to throw in the towel yet, neither is the team, and neither should you.....

i bet you are wishing you had saved your Sunday newspapers now aren't you?:eek:lol:

Go Vols. Beat Kentucky.

Polls don't come out til next Monday, we get it for a little longer. :)

Nice way to break the tension.:eek:lol:

@ Kentucky, @ Vandy, and @ Florida are three games that will always be difficult for UT. It's how in-conference rivalries work.
i think most everyone would agree with that. and most of us realized that our schedule was back loaded with these division road games, with the Memphis road game sandwiched there.

everyone, at least i hope everyone, would tell you the last 5 games had 4 in a row that would really help define our season. and in that stretch so far, we're 1-1. KY and @ FL are the key games left obviously. and SC at home to end the season.......

it ain't over yet.......

I know I'm not the hatvol of this forum, however I have played basketball all my life. Even got to play a pickup game with C Lo at a basketball camp one year. That is beside the point...thoughts on game tonight.

1) Our Style is Run & Gun. We must force more turnovers. I think we still may have been tired from Memphis.
2)This loss will make us better. Just because we lost doesn't mean we can't get back to be No.1. Remember it's not football season. If we win it all in March we'll forget about this loss.
3)Gotta do better at the FT line. Prince did good. Tyler is usually clutch. Ramar needs a bit of work..
4) Jordan Howell is scared to shoot, and only plays good defense 50% of the time, however he is a great ball handler and doesn't turn it over to much.
5) Tyler S. is our core player. Have to get him the ball.
6) We lost our POISE tonight. We got to upset, I would have been to with some of the BS calls but that is basketball.
7) We WILL CRUSH Kentucky.

I agree. The early foul trouble on Chism did not help us though. These refs did not do the best job possible. Let the players play. I dont think we should put any blame on the players because college basketball is all about coaching, and its hard to coach your players when they are 90 ft. from you
