well, i think most of us were aware that this game was at a tough spot on the schedule. Apparently we are all pretty smart.
As i watched the game, it became very apparent to me early on that this just wasn't going to be our night. i didn't think we played like we did Saturday. they didn't look like they were having fun. And Vandy looked like they wanted it more.
a result of being tired? emotionally drained? still elated over being no. 1? maybe a combination of all three. but you have to also consider, VAndy was just on tonight from the field. Contrary to the game in Knoxville, they were on fire early, and were consistent thru out the game. they didn't go thru any serious scoring droughts, as we did.
but, like i said earlier today, i have enjoyed #1 immensely, and also like i said, no. 1 today doesn't mean all that much, except for my ego.
as memphis found out Saturday, we found out tonight. when you don't make f/t's late and you don't get the off. rebounding performance we got Saturday, you can lose.
it didn't help that we weren't exactly lighting it up from the field.
the good news:
we lost on the road in conf. to a ranked team.....in a one possesion game. Sound familiar? Memphis feels the same way folks.
surprisingly, i didn't get real upset, partly becasue i knew this game would be very tough, and at about 2:30 mark when Vandy got 2 Off rebounds to keep that possession alive, i just laughed.
No. 1 for 2 days. Awesome.
it's about time we get some rest, and play a home game. plenty of bball left to play folks, i'm not ready to throw in the towel yet, neither is the team, and neither should you.....
i bet you are wishing you had saved your Sunday newspapers now aren't you?
lol:
Go Vols. Beat Kentucky.
