The Official Texas A&M @ #1 Tennessee National Championship Game 3 Thread (Mon. June 24 7PM EST) (ESPN)

He had a high pitch count yesterday, but does anything think we see Combs again at all? Kirby really scares me against this offense.

I’d love to know how many strikes he missed or just refused to call, on that right side of the plate?!
He missed 2 with Cortez. But I must say his fastball has more movement from any pitcher that I’ve seen in college. In addition, he missed more on both sides. He struggled from the start. Hope tonight’s plate umpire is the best the NCAA has to offer. In general, college umpires are very inconsistent with strike/ball calls with what I’ve witnessed this year.

It's made me appreciate MLB umps. They get crapped on a lot, and it's easy for fans at home with the benefit of k-zone displayed on their screen to critique. But the target for the pitches is always right on the edge of the strike zone, so they're constantly having to judge pitches within an inch of the edge. If I was an umpire at that level, I would be begging for robot umps to take over balls/strikes. The job is impossible.

Yeah, these college umps are woefully inconsistent, and it's maddening. But you just have to play better than they ump.

No, Combs is done, Tony wont send him in there to possibly get him hurt.
Tony joked that he said he’s available.

The cautiousness with arms is commendable but most coaches, and players too, will throw that to the wind to win a title. It’s harder with agents being involved now, but it’s still 8/10 guys would beg to get in the game even if their arm would fall off.

So what is our pitching situation next season? Has there been any info of us picking up another pitcher in the portal? We are seeing in Omaha that having pitching depth is key (Duh), and we don't have the horses on the mound that we had (Russell out for so long)... Can you imagine having Joyce still in the bullpen?

So proud of this team, I really hope they can close this out, they deserve it, CTV deserves it, the fans deserve it, and UT deserves it! GBO!!

I agree--- but yeah, with this literally being the last game of the season and having all that time off, I bet Combs wouldn't hesitate a second to walk out there for an inning or two and cook... This game is what every single kid on our team dreams of growing up!

Agreed. Cortez is the same way. I watched their post game and Cortez was upset he was being pulled and that he'd work through the pain and Schloss wasn't having it.

Aaron would kill to be back out there but I doubt he will be.

going to be one hot day in Omaha but it still a glorious one for a Vol W for win #60, now go get that W. Bring that trophy to Knocksville.

So then I’m pretty happy that the lawn isn’t a huge area lawn because it’s a lawn mowing day.

We’re going to McDonald’s to eat McFlurry’s.
That would be an outside the box reply to a Vols player that the Vols have won the College World Series Championship what are ypu going to do now.

The I’m going to Disney World or Disney Land is a predictable cliche answer.

After watching both games I would say that we lost the first one mainly due to fielding errors and really weird hops of the ball. Most of their runs were after an error or one of those pop-up off the pitchers mound freak incidences. In the second game, no errors, no weird ball hops, and we really shut them out with the exception of one early pitch. If we play an errorless game today, I think we have the advantage. And a big shout out to the players making the A&M pitchers have to really work to get them out. Its one thing to strike out. It's another to strike out after making the pitcher have to throw 10 to 15 times.
