The Official Texas A&M @ #1 Tennessee National Championship Game 3 Thread (Mon. June 24 7PM EST) (ESPN)

I think it‘s safe to say these would be accurate in a normal series, but AgForums is certain Ascherbeck and Prager will both pitch tomorrow. Tony also (while joked) didn’t shut down the idea of Combs pitching again tomorrow. One game for history - all hands on deck.
They have to get 5 innings minimum out of Lamkin or they’re in trouble.

Do what’s the scoop on Lamkin? We screwed or nah?
They need him to go 5 innings to keep them in position to bring in their ACE reliever. Anything less our offensive will have the advantage over their pen (like we saw today). Last week he had a brilliant outing

From TXAGS: “Lamkin’s last two appearances have been nothing short of exceptional, recording 15 strikeouts and just four hits allowed in two wins over Florida to make it to the Finals. Also available Monday, reliever Josh Stewart and closer Evan Aschenbeck will also be ready to go.”

Sigh

Here is an interesting stat, since the CWS went to the best 2 out of 3 format, there have been 20 Finals.

Teams winning game 2 have won the CWS 80% (16 times)

There have only been 4 years where the loser of game 2 went on to win the series.
Rice in 2003
Vandy in 2014
LSU in 2009 & 2023

So in the last 8 years, the game 2 winner has only lost the series once.

I’m hoping the Vols win the College World Series Championship for the first time tonight because they forced a game 3, and because that is a realistic outcome.

A high bar achievement for the 2024 Vols Baseball Team even though they haven’t tied the 1998 Louisiana State Tigers baseball team.

I’m hopeful we’ll forever remember the 2024 June Monday that the Volunteers win a College World Series Championship for the first time.

That would be as amazing as my favorite X Men character Gambit throwing charged cards.
