So, runner on first went all the way back to the bag to tag on the fly. The batter almost collided with the runner at first before passing her. The original runner on first messed up by going all the way back to the bag, she shouldve stopped halfway.

Thanks for the clarification. Crappy base running is a common theme for this generation. Coaches have failed them at the youth level.

Rule of thumb is to go halfway when hit to RF. 3/4 of the way whenever it is hit in front of you to LF/CF unless it is hit swallow then just go halfway. It’s really not that difficult of a concept but you see base running mistakes like this on a daily basis now.
