The Official Thread of Jayvaughn Pinkston

JayVaughn, go ahead and take your time in the spotlight this spring. You can also be on ESPNU, maybe you can even get moved up to a show on ESPN, make the announcement around a big college game.

Please do not listen to Kimani Young about shoe deals or anything else. You do not want to limit your options by limiting yourself to the options his coaching career has.

Realize that Chism and T Smith are gone and that EMan has a pacemaker now. We will have big Brian W and Kenny Hall down low. If you came in the frontcourt with Tobias you are looking at 15-25 minutes a game easily.

I agree the one-year rule is bad. What coach really wants a one-year player, or even two for that matter? I mean, if you're UNC or Kansas and Memphis under Calipari the Snake Oil Salesman and are loaded every year, then yea, a short-term stud can make a difference, but otherwise, no. Coach K does not recruit one-year and done ballers--has not for a few years after he got burned by a couple of kids--and while I think the blue devils have suffered a little bit for that decision, I certainly agree with it.

One and done players have never helped teams like Ohio State or Syracuse at all.

I thought he was going to wait...I did not see kimani young get a job yet. Will it be announced at the same press conference?

damn. We need another big-time big man for next year.

Per Rivals:

Pinkston was originally scheduled to make his college commitment before the Fall deadline but abruptly canceled the announcement. It was widely speculated that Pinkston was going to choose Tennessee. Asked whether or not Tobias Harris committing to TN effected Pinkston's final decision, Young responded, "That's a better question for Tennessee."

Young said that hopefully Pinkston and Harris will ultimately have an opportunity to play against each other in college but added, "But they will play against each other before then." Pinkston and Harris a scheduled to play against each other in January during the Big Apple Basketball Invitational, when Bishop Loughlin HS plays Half Hollow Hills West HS. "Let's just hope that someone doesn't claim to have a bad ankle before the game," said Young.

I've just heard some surprising news. Bruce passed on Pinkston after he felt we would land Tobias. Not sure why he would do this...

Seems as though Tobias (under the influence of his father) would sign with Tennessee ONLY if Pinkston didn't. Looks like Bruce didn't have a choice.

Don't believe he did, the two simply did not want to play together. I would have done the same thing and pursued the top 10 prospect.
