The Official Vandy @ Tennessee Series Thread (4/21 6PM EST SEC NETWORK) (4/22 Noon EST ESPN2) (4/23 1PM EST ESPN2)

Thank you for posting, how did he get suspended for that?

I believe any ejection=4 game suspension. It’s the ejection itself that was questionable. Yes, he overreacted. Yes, he was yelling. But he didn’t make any contact, no swings or kicks were thrown, he didn’t spike anyone or throw his glove. The behavior wasn’t great, but an ejection leading to a 4 game suspension? Unnecessary.

Moore was involved in an incident 3-4 innings before this incident. Vandy had a guy on 2nd and for some reason Moore walked up to the runner and said something. The Vandy guy held out his arms as if to say “what was that for?” The umpire took a couple of steps toward the players and said something to Moore. It seems that Moore went out of his way to walk over to the runner and say whatever he had to say.

I‘m all for defending your teammates, but when a guy keeps setting himself up, the umpires keep watching. They’ve got a short leash for tolerance right now, so don’t put yourself in situations that bring attention to yourself. I‘m not saying the ejection was correct, just relaying what happened on the field beforehand that viewers might not have seen.
The rest of the story…

Are you a Vol fan or a Vandy fan?
Not criticizing, you are a cool poster, was just curious.

I grew up in a UGA-dominant household with a small Vandy/GT segment that was into academics.

I’m here on the baseball sub, as I played college baseball, still know most of the coaching staffs, and still have faint memories of the current players back when they were on the travel circuit.

At this point, I have transcended fandoms (I also didn’t play in the SEC) and just love the game. It’s just different than the pros.

Covered this yesterday but again, single game suspension for a position player.

I don’t like the matchup today. Futrell is a really tough LHP, the kind we struggle with. And we’re down our best right handed bat. We’ll need to run up his pitch count and try to get into their pen. If it becomes a bullpen battle, I like our odds. That also means Beam will have to bounce back and give us a solid performance.

Hopefully Kendro is ready to give us some production. Expect Merritt to start in RF vs. the lefty instead of Scott.

If we’re going to win today, we’ll have to grind it out. It won’t be like yesterday.

LNS needs to rattle the seismograph!

Logan Chambers

Logan bats left handed. IMO, we will need all the right handed batters we can get in against this guy. He has turned into the candy ace. Doesn't throw with high velocity, but has great movement and location. Extremely difficult for left hand batters to hang in there. Dickey will be ok. But, Blake and Maui are going to bail out. The name is Devin Futrell. Listed hobbies are television, tobacco, beer, and molesting border collies.

It won’t matter if Corbin mind****s his hitters lol.

Just reading back through the posts and had to chuckle at the knee jerk reactions of a few when we are up 9-1........I'm glad we pay CTV to make decisions
Yeah his command got better after that inning too. I was worried we may let them right back in it but whatever Anderson said to him worked. I later posted what a great job he did.

I probably shouldn’t have called the decision by Moore “extremely stupid” although the word stupid isn’t that harsh, IMO. But, your point above basically sums up by thoughts in the moment much better. Moore has been walking a line with the umpires all year. I 100% support sticking up for your teammates, but each outburst puts your fate in the hands of emotional umpires who have been known to have quick hooks all year long, umpires who do not face consequences and are not punished if their decisions are wrong.

I love that we’re starting to openly see the fire and desire to win within this team that we’ve known has been there all year long, but I think there is a way to do it that doesn’t jeopardize your chances to see the field. Moore has a quick temper and I just worry if he doesn’t rein it in a bit he’s going to do something similar to Gilbert in the post-season and get tossed in a key moment that we need him.

He had to buy more time I don't think a reliever would have been ready. Same with Andy, probably would have taken there guy out sooner than later.

I was cringing when Doe came stomping off the mound flexing 💪 at the end of the second inning.
Hard to tell what will constitute unsportsmanlike behavior.
