The Official 'VN, Chattanooga Chapter' Thread

how you doin' hman? I am having my kayak built and hopefully next year i can crack the muddy river and give you a shout as i pass by.

I've noticed a bunch of new eateries/coffee houses/etc. in downtown... any really good ones that I should try?

BlueGrass Grill downtown is good, but a sign on their door said they're closed until Monday. I hear a lot about Big River on Broad, good and bad, but never been there. I've heard high praise for 212 Market, but it's supposedly a tad bit pricey. City Cafe at Carter and MLK downtown I've heard is a good and cheap diner. There are a handful of good places across the river on Frazier Ave one being Mud Pie, and the new complex I believe called Greenlife off Manufacturers Rd has a great vegetarian aimed joint. You can walk across the bridge or drive, and considering the today heat index, I recommend the latter.

Deluxe Grill had a really good cheeseburger. Loved the atmosphere. Only been there once so I can't add any more. Foodworks is good. And I've heard Jet Stream is good too, super seafood. I agree with 212 being pricey, and not justified in my opinion, but it's been a long time since I've been there.

i've noticed a bunch of new places south of 5th/6th street, especially around the choo-choo area... there's one a block south of the choo-choo, which would have been unheard of several years ago...

there's a "new" pub about 1 mi. north of GPS on barton (haven't tried it)... also, a new ice cream place on the south end of the walnut st. bridge... that restaurant on Frazier has changed names again (Riverside grill?.. next to Subway).... is it any good?

Treemont Tavern. I've never eaten there, but the burgers look good. The waitresses look good. The beer's good.

I have a friend that sings at Tremont sometimes. I need to get down there and catch his set sometime.

its a small place and it gets packed. i used to go to pub trivia down there on mondays, i believe it was. good time. the food is good and they tend to run beer specials quite a bit. the tavern is beer only with no liquor of any kind. dustin the owner is a class act and i have always felt at home down there. also they have a beer list and if you drink a certain amount of different types of beers they give you a mug that you can have on display and use when you come in.

was at six flags today and had never ridden goliath before. it is possibly one of the top 5 roller coasters i have ever been on. it was sweet.

Quit acting like The Log Ride isn't more intense than some top-rate roller coaster. The G-forces on the way down the slide are heavy, lol!

what is funny is that as i have made fun of the cannonball yesterday, today in the paper they had a story on how it is one of the best roller coasters in the world. a group of international roller coaster enthusiasts came to lake winnie to ride the cannonball and loved it. don't get me wrong it is a descent roller coaster for a place like lake winnie, but putting it up on an international scale is hard to believe.

I just read the article on the website, that is surprising. It's refreshing to be reminded that those parks don't need a corporate attachment or a new coasters in order to have appeal.

yeah man, i have gotten out in the sea kayak the past few days and it has been so nice. i always dread the summers here. i wish i was still at 10,000 feet.
