Spent 2 years in Abilene, TX at ACU. West Texas weather is erratic at best. For starters, there.s always some kind of wind blowing 24/7/365. From a breeze to a gale force. There is basically no protection from the north at that point in the state. 3 hours west of Dallas and the only thing north is Lubbock and the panhandle. We would have a literal blizzard in February with winds so strong, I would head to the student center aiming for hte center set of doors...and end up at the end set of doors. Chill to the bone cold winds too. If you stood up straight you went backwards. Very next day we're at the pool in 70 degree balmy temps watching bikinis. Possibly the strangest area I've been in for winter weather.A buddy of mine is from Palestine TX and got into the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. He had never seen more than a light dusting of snow. His dorm room was on the second floor and he said one night it started snowing and when they got up in the morning you could lean out his window and touch the snow. Holy cow.
Our 4-6 inches still hasn't covered the grass and it's been non-stop since 8:00am.so far the "about an inch" of snow is around 3 and still falling another brilliant Weather forecast
Little po-dunk Jackson County treats hte roads better than Cookeville/Putnam. I rarely have trouble, and in the worst road condition, say 2014, and 2022, still navigated well with common sense snow driving.Wait til it freezes up tonight....
The ice was a big issue last year because TDOT didn't treat their roads in Shelby County and the snow refroze as ice
