This program has come a long way. We the fanbase are disappointed in not making a final 4.

Looking back on the game, I keep thinking about two big mistakes. JP picking up the two quick fouls and leaving the game for that extended period allowed a run that we could never really re-claim a solid lead from. Second, I didn't think Scotty's miss at the back end of his shooting foul shots was that big of a deal with regard to the score because they were going to be shooting for the win regardless. The fact that it set up a transition offense that we didn't get back for was brutal and put us in an impossible situation.

With that said, it was awesome getting to watch our team play (and play so well) on this stage. I hope we can see them get to the final weekend sometime soon...but this was close...very close. Man.

Disappointing end to a great season... Very sad to see Chism play his last game in a Tennessee uniform

Also, thank you Hat for another season of excellent analysis. Vol ball simply would not be the same for me if I didn't have your postgame reports and traps to read.

A loss is easier to accept when you watch your team give all out effort. These guys have done that. I am a proud fan today.
I would have to say that ALMOST all of them gave all out effort. There's one player who I'm hanging this loss on.

nice recap...

Onto Spring practice
O&W game
and the Dooley Era for Tennessee football
Are you trying to make people's day worse? I've abandoned the football forum so I don't have to think about that piece of trash and the destruction he's going to bring to Tennessee football. The last thing I want is a bunch of you sheep coming in here to remind me of what a terrible fall we've got coming.

I can't really fault too much in that game. Prince's 3rd foul was key. Looking back (which is easy to do), CBP probably should have left him in the game.

Agreed. We left a lot of points on the floor - free throws, Pearl’s 2-on-1 break, rebounds that bounced out of our hands into theirs. It would be easy to play the woulda, coulda, shoulda game; but IMO that takes away from their tremendous accomplishment. It has been a great ride.

I saw this, looked like it went in one ear and out the other with Hopson.

Ronald McDonald thinks he's above accepting any admonishment from the likes of Bwill.

Cam Tatum is getting screwed cuz of restaurant hype.

I hope Ronald believes the morons around him and declares for the draft... or transfers.

The last shot should've gone to chism or a drive by JP or maze.

Thanks, Hat. I needed that laugh.

I wasn't going to be that harsh, but I agree with the sentiment. At this point, I'm just ready to fast forward to next hoops season.

I've seen a lot of UT football games and have never felt as down about a loss as I do today. But, what's done is done. Hopefully, this run helps with our future recruiting.

There's been a few, namely the 2001 SEC Champ game, but this sucks.

1. Another great, great college basketball game. That's not the result they wanted, but Tennessee did themselves and all of us proud.
2. Wayne Chism's college career is over. That is a very, very sad thing.
3. I've been one of JP Prince's biggest critics. This season would have come apart at the seams without his contributions.
4. Bobby Maze should take great pride in his play during this season. He was a key senior cog in a team that made history.
5. My hat's off to Melvin Goins. His defense in this tournament makes me confident the point guard position is in good hands in '10-'11.
6. I talk ad nauseum about the value of toughness. The two teams on the floor today were perfect examples of that concept.
7. This is now Brian Williams' team to lead. Getting in Scotty Hopson's face for big game cowardice is a step in the right direction.8. Teams rarely break through the first time they get to the doorstep. This program showed they weren't frozen by the moment.
9. Bruce Pearl, great job. Just please keep the "controlled chaos" silliness in the closet permanently.
10. Anyone who wonders why I was so fervent in my wish to sign Jayvaughn Pinkston, I give you Draymon Green. Burly, powerful guys who can handle the ball and step out on the the floor are gold in the college game.

It is obvious he just doesn't get it and maybe never will.

All right hat, what do you think about next season? Rebuilding, reloading, what?
Depends on Hopson and Tatum. If they decide to become fulltime players, Tennessee can be very, very good. If they choose to drift in and out and cower in big moments, this is an early exit NCAA Tournament team.

I vote we not talk football in this thread. We should be celebrating the the efforts and determination of the best basketball team in Tennessee history.
