Agreed. We left a lot of points on the floor - free throws, Pearl’s 2-on-1 break, rebounds that bounced out of our hands into theirs. It would be easy to play the woulda, coulda, shoulda game; but IMO that takes away from their tremendous accomplishment. It has been a great ride.

Two great teams that played great games. One team was 14/21 from the line and the other was 16/21. You can guess which one was which. I can't really complain about this game or this season. It's been a lot of fun.

1. Another great, great college basketball game. That's not the result they wanted, but Tennessee did themselves and all of us proud.
2. Wayne Chism's college career is over. That is a very, very sad thing.
3. I've been one of JP Prince's biggest critics. This season would have come apart at the seams without his contributions.
4. Bobby Maze should take great pride in his play during this season. He was a key senior cog in a team that made history.
5. My hat's off to Melvin Goins. His defense in this tournament makes me confident the point guard position is in good hands in '10-'11.
6. I talk ad nauseum about the value of toughness. The two teams on the floor today were perfect examples of that concept.
7. This is now Brian Williams' team to lead. Getting in Scotty Hopson's face for big game cowardice is a step in the right direction.
8. Teams rarely break through the first time they get to the doorstep. This program showed they weren't frozen by the moment.
9. Bruce Pearl, great job. Just please keep the "controlled chaos" silliness in the closet permanently.
10. Anyone who wonders why I was so fervent in my wish to sign Jayvaughn Pinkston, I give you Draymon Green. Burly, powerful guys who can handle the ball and step out on the the floor are gold in the college game.

nvm

Depends on Hopson and Tatum. If they decide to become fulltime players, Tennessee can be very, very good. If they choose to drift in and out and cower in big moments, this is an early exit NCAA Tournament team.

Ok, so supposing it's like this year (Hopson scores alot up until the SEC tournament) then 1st or 2nd round team

That's not funny. It's completely true.

I was laughing at his first statement "Are you trying to make people's day worse?" I know we have a tough fall coming up. Hence why I also abandoned the football forum. Sorry to ruffle your feathers.

I would have to say that ALMOST all of them gave all out effort. There's one player who I'm hanging this loss on.

Same. It irks me that guys like Prince, Chism, Maze who have been giving it their all are going out because of someone who doesn't appear to give a damn.

I hope the incoming freshmen are as good as advertised, because we're losing 3 good seniors. Great season. Heartbreaking loss. Go Vols.

Hell of a post, hat......I will miss those seniors, but they have changed Tennessee basketball.....My expectations are high from here on out.....

Those two things give me hope for the future. Williams showed a side of himself I hadn't seen much with the way he was attacking and on top of everything in this tournament. He is developing nicely in my opinion.

As for the next point, this just has the feeling of something that has just started. We have a very good class coming in and if Pearl can do as good a job with them as he did with this team, which could have fallen apart entirely, we have great things ahead.

Are you trying to make people's day worse? I've abandoned the football forum so I don't have to think about that piece of trash and the destruction he's going to bring to Tennessee football. The last thing I want is a bunch of you sheep coming in here to remind me of what a terrible fall we've got coming.

Well, if you hate him that much he's probably going to be pretty good. He snitch on someone too? Or you just disagree with his churchgoin + discipline philosophy?

I would think that this whole deal with Bruce would at least make you give the guy a chance.

He was the difference late, we did not match up well with him. He gave Wayne and Brian fits off the dribble.

Great season! Hopefully we build off of it. We are losing a lot, but we return a lot of potential that knows what it takes to get to the next level.

loved seeing Williams get in Hopson's face. idk what is wrong w/ hopson, sometimes he makes a great play, but most of the time i shake my head in the decisions he makes

Exactly. Hopefully Hopson will mature over the summer and sack up in big games next year. I think Tatum will be ready to take his game to the next level. We gotta have Hopson step up though and hope for some solid contributions from the newcomers.

Pearl came to Knoxville off a Sweet 16 at Milwaukee. This fool rides into town off a losing season in the WAC.
