Not his season high. 5 double/doubles. Williams and Fields have a combined 1 double/double. You guys are butt hurt over getting dominated down low by a guy like Josh, and I don't blame you. However, he's a better player than you give him credit for.

Have to agree.

I haven't watched Harralson all season, so I can't say anything but tonight. But when Brian Williams comes to play, he almost always gets 8+ scoring and rebounding (even though he never seems to get the double double. I remember several games where he's had 10+ of one and 9 of the other). The trick is getting him to play hard the whole game.

edit: I see Williams had 8 points and 9 boards tonight too. See, I knew 8 and 8 was his standard.

Just wondering if he was that incapable, I pretty much only watch Vermont games on TV. That said, what do you think of Lonergan as a coach, hat?
I think he's good at that level. That's a tough job and the little run Brennan had distorted the reality of the situation.

Yeah, the Coppenrath/Sorrentine run will be about impossible to top, but getting there every 2-3 years is the only way to do it.

Letting jhar and liggins abuse us offensively is inexcusable. UK played harder and it was obvious, they tried their best to give the game away early with infinite turnovers and how did we capitalize? Not scoring and turning it back over to them of course.

It is gonna be a long day at work tomorrow

Did Trapani who's at Boston College now start out at Vermont? I know he transferred from a smaller conference.

Brennan did a good job of making it the "Hoosiers" culture, playing for the small schools who didn't have a chance. Trapani is a case, you don't get much attention playing class M in connecticut, schools with under 800 kids.

You guys must live in some alternate universe where the Brian Williams you watch isn't slow, lazy, and soft around the rim. For every 1 good play the guy makes he'll give up another easy rebound, miss a layup, and create a 3 point play for the other team. He's a net negative player. We'll be better when he graduates.

He had nine rebounds tonight. Our second leading rebounder was Melvin Goins. You know, the point guard. With five.

Brian didn't play his best game tonight, and I certainly make the same criticisms for him not going up hard at the rim. But of all our inside guys tonight, he was not the problem. He had more rebounds than Fields, Pearl, and Harris combined. Actually, Melvin Goins had as many rebounds as Fields, Pearl, and Harris combined.

Watched him dismantle Louisville this season, and pretty sure Louisville is a better team than the vols right now, even though their big guys suck as well.

I don't care how ESPN, or any other sport channels saying how good Kentucky is, there's no excuses for Vols playing poorly, Vols missed too much of letting Kentucky grabs some offense rebounds and easy basket off the board. I don't care if they're at Rupp Arena where most people saying "home court advantage" is the reason why, I called it BS. I think I rather called it "let the game speak for itself".
The way I see it, I think Josh Bone from off the bench should play more from the start instead of McBee. I can understand how McBee is physically on defense & all that, but this season, it seems Josh Bone doing a lot better tonight and if he keeps playing like that, he should be playing more minutes than McBee...
Scotty Hopson seems like around 70-75% healthy, but he's really playing hard and trying to help his teammates to win this tonight but we Vols know he's not 100% out there.

Cal deserves a Hell of a lot of credit for developing Harrelson. He's improved as much from last year to this year as anyone in the country.

Is Pearl under "Do Not Shoot" orders?

Not a basketball strategist by any means, but if he pulls the trigger and knocks down a few wide open uncovered looks, would that not adjust the UK defense a little bit?

Pearl couldn't hit a bull in the A** with a bass fiddle or throw a rock in the ocean, much less hit an open shot

Not sure that's an accurate way to analyze that - momentum plays a big factor in road games. I just can't believe the overall effort tonight.

If the Vols let that kill their momentum that much, then they were going to lose anyway.

I would say grabbing the rim on a layup and not having goaltending called is about as "egregious" as it gets. Even Dykes said we got 2 stolen from us.

That shot was not even close to going in.

After we got within 35-30, UK went on a run that was solely based on outhustling us. We lost several rebounds on UK's missed FTs tonight, and we kept letting Harrellson get the ball at the only spot on the court where he can score.

Decided not to make a new thread, just thought the irony was rich.

A Kentucky fan yelled "Welcome back" as Pearl headed to the locker room following warm-ups. But not all proved as welcoming. A small group of blue-clad fans directly behind the Tennessee bench shouted things like "cheater," "liar" and other unprintable words at Pearl (which, given Kentucky's own spotty NCAA history, seemed a little ironic). At halftime, Pearl asked arena security to do something about the fans.

"It was just the language; my family is back there," Pearl said. "They can say whatever they want." - Brian Bennett

Bruce, I've heard you on the bench. Don't play that game. That's ridiculous.

Really dumb move for Bruce considering he brought all of this on himself.
