I think 2012 is the year we can actually make a legitimate run at a title. I was listening to a Bill Simmons podcast with the Houston Rocket's GM as his guest (pretty sharp guy and makes much better moves than rest of NBA) and he explained that the 2010 draft will be stronger than usual because players will want to avoid the potential 2011 labor dispute /cba changes. Now I think we can all agree NO ONE on this team is leaving early for the NBA, but this should push some other teams who have fringe guys into leaving.

He went on to say he believes 2011 class will be down for the opposite reason. Players not wanting to come into a league on strike, cba uncertainty ect, ect.

So (here comes some big IFs) if Scotty and Tobias play extremely well (good enough to leave early) they may stay anyways because of the uncertainty of the NBA, add in our impressive class (that will hopefully still be impressive) of 2012 and we could have a line up that looks like:

PG- Ware
SG- Mcrae/Golden
SF- Hopson
PF- Harris
C- Hall

Now if everyone pans out that could be are most loaded NBA talent team in history. A TON of variables, but something to hope for...

P.S I am not righting this season off by any means, just like to look ahead.

When are people going to give up on the ridiculous "Will Scotty Leave Early?" speculation? It's like watching Vincent Yarbrough 2: Soft Swingman Sequel.

I agree, but it's only going to take 1 good season and he's gone. Based on his potential, 1 good season is all he will need to be a lottery pick.

If that season ever comes, who knows. But he's only a sophmore, Yarbrough was soft his entire career.

Is his potential so sky high? Really? I see a great divide between flashes of brilliance and true professional potential.

I'm sick of hearing about his potential. He's almost completed two seasons and has done nothing of note. He is what he's going to be. Elite talents don't see their junior year in college.

My point exactly.

Well, he's already a 1st round pick according to draftexpress (24th) and nbadraft.net (28th). If he has a good season next year, he's gone and probably at a higher pick.

These are probably the 2 best NBA Draft sites out there.

I'm not saying I think he should be picked there, but the NBA is a league whose draft takes potential into account.

The only way Scotty Hopson becomes a 1st round draft pick is if Al Davis takes control of an NBA franchise.

NBA GM's make horrible choices every year. Hell, Danilo Gallinari was a 6th overall pick.

He's also infinitely better than Hopson will ever be. Hopson can't even dribble in traffic. Of course, I'm not surprised that a site who has Willie Reed projected as a lottery pick likes Hopson.

Exactly. He has no break down ability either. Just being tall and athletic doesn't get you far in the league; those guys come a dime a dozen.

Actually i think scotty is an nba prospect and here's why:

1) He has an nba body. 6' 7", lengthy, athletic SG

2) He has the ability to shoot and he can get to the rim at will (literally when he puts forth the effort).

3) I love CBP to death but lets be real, most of our offense is letting the shot clock run down and having somebody try to penetrate and make a play or just give it to Chism. Our best offense is the "Flex" but we dont run it nearly enough. My point: Scotty hasn't really been "coached up."

I honestly think that Scotty has the abiltiy to be a good nba player. He's a mid-range jumper from getting there. Anybody remember when vince carter came into the league? He couldn't shoot a lick. Basically all you need to get to the nba is tools (which he has), and the hype (McDonald's All American).

I don't know about nbadraft.net, but the guys at draftexpress talk to NBA front office guys all the time. They know what they're talking about.

Who needs guys that evaluate players for a living when we got you. :good!:
You're putting stock in a bunch of web geeks selling ads to porno lines and penile extension companies to pay the bills. I make more in a month than they make in a year. They don't get paid to evaluate players, they get paid because people are naive and stupid enough to go to their sites. Hell, I probably talk to more NBA scouts in an average week than they do and I don't even have an Enzyte ad buy on the line.

He really can't get to the rim at will. Half the time he dribbles it off his leg or is stripped in the paint without ever getting a shot. He is also incredibly inconsistent with his shot as well.

hatvol, I'm not saying anything against you. But, I think without Scotty this year would be way worse than it has been.... He's still young.....yes he still is not very aggressive but he still has a lot of room to grow if he stays.....jmo fwiw

Everybody watch out, Hats throwing his wallet around. Don't want anyone to get hurt.

I make more money than people who clean the toilets at my job, doesn't mean I know how to do it better than them.
