So Hat, do you think the guys coming in are the best Pearl has pulled in while he has been here? If so, do you think we have a shot at being an elite basketball team?

Well, that changes everything. If it's on a message board, it must be true.

Hat, those guys are credified. How much more proof do you want? I like how ranrad hasn't come up with an explanation about how "right" they were about Tyler Smith.

Harris is very, very good. The Carmelo Anthony comparisons are moronic, but he's really good. Golden and McRae will be quality SEC players. The raw material will be there to put a Top 10 team on the floor in '11-'12. We'll see how it plays out.

After his sophmore season people were saying late 1st round early second round, that's exactly where they had him. He came back to move up, had a bad season and they had him not being drafted in '09.

Where were they wrong?

He spots up all the time because you rarely see him moving to get himself open. He doesn't get a lot of shots off because he can't create a shot for himself.

Also, JP Prince is unquestionably our best penetrater. I would put both Maze and Goins ahead of Hopson as well.

What I mean is when somebody penetrates and kicks it out to him, when he is set, the dude can shoot better than anyone on this team. Yeah he is lazy at times but when he tries and really wants it he can get to the rim better than anybody. Sure bobby and melvin can penetrate but they do put forth a better effort on every possession. IMO i think he came here expecting everything to come to him on a silver platter when in college you have to work for it. And dont even get me started on jp. He does good things but does equally as many bone headed things. It doesn't take a retard to figure out that if you stop him from going left, you've stopped him.

That's because what I linked only shows through June 2008. But nice job avoiding my question about them being dead wrong.

If you click on mock draft history, then scroll down it shows '09 mock draft history genius. Notice it doesn't have him being picked.

I'm not avoiding anything.

Smith said he would go if he could be drafted in the first round. He tried out for several teams and ultimately came back. So, I'm assuming that meant he was told he wouldn't be drafted in the first round. Yet, your site with credified people shows him solidly in the first round basically through all of 2008. That's where it's wrong.

Exactly. After the workout!! Thus, they don't have him not being drafted in '09.

Why is that so hard to understand? For all of '09 they had him not being drafted. Which was (drumroll) AFTER HIS WORKOUT.

Ranrad, this quote tells you all you need to know about this site. Despite the chart not being there in '09, they infer that Smith is still first round material in the entries I have read. But then I found this gem that better demonstrates their expertise.

With the Big 10 and Big 12 out of the way, we move our attention to one of the strongest conferences in college basketball--the SEC, which is pretty loaded with returning first round caliber prospects this season. Andrew Ogilvy leads the way, followed by Patrick Patterson, Tyler Smith, Nick Calathes and Jarvis Varnado.

Well, at least they got Patterson right.

And when was that written? Those guys were all potential 1st rounders at one point.

That's exactly the point. At one point they had guys that were never close to being in the first round as being first rounders. This is the same as them predicting Hopson as a first round pick.

They simply aren't reliable.

Did I see they called the SEC one of the toughest conferences in the nation? That's just outstanding stuff.

They said 1st round caliber. Those 5 players were all 1st round caliber after Smith's sophmore season.

No, they weren't. If they were 1st round caliber then, did they all just get significantly worse? Easy answer: No, your site was just wrong about their projection of them. As they are with Hopson.

Whatever, you two can sit there and give eachother reach arounds all night trying to prove me wrong, but we will see how reliable they are this upcoming draft. I'll be sure to post the results.

And you can keep defending these idiots by suggesting that Ogilvy and Calathes were first round draft picks one year, but then just all of a sudden got a lot worse. Because that makes a lot of sense.

Ogilvy never developed. When he first came to the SEC he had a ton of upside. Calathes left early to go to Greece. When this article was written they may have had 1st round potential, however you never posted when it was written.

I don't know when it was written. Does it matter? The fact that they ever called Ogilvy a first round draft pick speaks for itself.
