The Playoff Thread

Z was on 3 days rest and Marmol has been solid all year. It just backfired. I've seen Z be cruising along and slip on one bad inning because of fatigue and implode.

It isn't the worst thing in the world. I think Lilly is like 10-2/9-2/9-3/10-3 when pitching after a loss this year.
But why did they let him hit? He is a good hitting pitcher but come on.

It was either Z starting on 3 days rest or one of our lower tier pitchers(Marquis, Marshall, Trachsel) and I guess he trusted Z the most. He also knows how good Lilly is coming off of a loss, though he obviously wanted the win. My guess is that he just wanted his ace for game #1.

Looks like the first round may end up being a real snorer. Cubs are at risk of being swept. Phils are at risk of being swept. Angels are at risk of being swept. Yanks got killed in the first game.

Only 2 teams I'm cheering for are looking good, Rockies and Dbacks. I still remember being in Phx when they won the WS and it was amazing!

I can't stand the fact that they use five-game series in the first round. The postseason is enough of a crapshoot already without making it so that whoever loses Game 1 immediately faces a must-win game.

Tribe is hanging, they should be done with Rivera as he's pitched 2....Nothing left in the NYY Pen, if Joe doesn't send Rivera out for another inning than call it a series

good call.

did anyone see the home run Manny hit? I would say he hit it a ton.

There are only three truly reprehensible teams in baseball. One of them choked down the stretch and missed the playoffs entirely; the worst team of all went down pretty meekly to Cleveland. Now all we have to do is get rid of the Red Sox and everything'll be right with the world.

Why all the hate for the BoSox?

Largely because Boston sports fans have become the most insufferable pro fans in America in recent years. They have not exactly enjoyed their three Super Bowl wins and a WS title graciously. I'd rather see a group of Yankees fans walk into my local pub these days, and that's saying something.

I pledge Allegiance, To the Fans, of the entire Red Sox Nation. And to the Fenway Faithful, in all the stands, one Team, under Tito, Unbeatable, with Passion, and Sammies, Play Ball![/

Unbeatable huh? That's a joke.

Terrible call at second in the Rockies game tonight; classless move by the fans throwing crap on the field to protest.

I'm going to disagree. As he hit the bag, Upton rolled and deliberately threw his right arm out into Matsui's legs. I like a good hard slide as much as the next guy, but IMO once you throw an arm out like that you're opening yourself up for the interference call. I'd have no problem with the ump calling it either way.

It's not like it made much of a difference anyway. That game was all Rockies.
