Clutch hitting does not exist, as least as far as being a measurable, repeatable skill that predicts future performance. A team that depends as much on clutch hitting as Arizona did this year -- witness their record in one-run games, and the fact that they gave up more runs than they scored -- is in trouble. Sooner or later that luck has to run out.

agreed, clutch hitting is a myth. The guys who tend to be credited as "great in the clutch" are almost always high average guys anyway.

Agreed again. These stats always bother me, like 2 out RBI, Average with RISP, and so on. Does anyone actually try harder when they are in a big spot?

They belong with "Holds" and "Saves" in the "We have too much time so we create statistics compile" category.

I own my High School's record for 2 out RBI's against opposing pitchers whos last name began with Y. Well, i can't guarantee it, but i have to be at the top if not near it lol.

Dice K is being his usual "Slightly Above Average" self. Season WHIP of 1.33, which is good, but ERA of 4+, which is okay, but not for someone with the K's and WHIP....Too many pitches, too many gophers....Get Tavarez up, if we can't pitch well, at least we'll be able to brawl well.

They may not win 90 games next year, but I certainly don't expect them to have as much trouble scoring. I think they will be back in the playoffs within 2 years, and be there without needing 32 wins in one run games.

Upsetting series, but I'm pulling for the Rockies in the series. I wouldn't mind the local Indians winning, but prefer Colorado, and just hope it isn't Boston.
