being told to leave because of my political beliefs.
being told to leave because of my sexual preferences.
being told to leave because of my faith.
drinks thrown in my face, people yelling in my face, having my personal belongings grabbed and thrown on the ground, and broken.
having my job threatened because I didn't comply with the majority opinion.
being pushed/shoved/cursed.
plenty of hateful labels and insults thrown in my face.
I am a straight white christian cis-gendered male living and working in the most diverse and gay part of the south, in a profession that leans very liberal, and its clear my kind isn't welcome in a lot of places. I am the local minority. for a while it was about once a month something would happen. certainly wasn't everyone like that, or even a majority, but hate is not relegated to one side. probably like the hate you have likely experienced, its easy for people to lash out when you are the one off, regardless of your particular beliefs/differences are. people like to act like you are the responsible for everything that is wrong with "your kind" and act accordingly, without bothering to get to know you first. not sure I would call every instance hate, but plenty of it was.
had a relationship end because of it, it was clear I was never going to receive respect in the circles she was in even though she didn't care.
