Why under-19?Several Hospitals Pause Gender-Affirming Care to evaluate Trump’s Executive Order
Hospitals in Colorado, Virginia, and the nation’s capital said Thursday they have paused gender-affirming care for young people as they evaluate President Donald Trump’s executive order aimed at cutting federal support for such care.
Denver Health in Colorado has stopped providing gender-affirming surgeries for people under age 19, a spokesperson confirmed Thursday, in order to comply with the executive order and continue receiving federal funding. It is unclear whether the hospital will continue providing other gender-affirming care for youth, including hormone therapy and puberty blockers.
In Virginia, VCU Health and Children’s Hospital of Richmond said they have suspended gender-affirming medication and gender-affirming surgical procedures for those under 19 years old.

We can probably easily guess their motivations for doing it.So that means erase them? Everyone is so stupid now
I am sympathetic to this, but a lot of states do not allow 18 year olds to drink. Why under-19?
An 18 year old is a legal adult. They should be able to elect any procedure they can source.
What bothers me is the crazy amount of attention that’s been brought to this issue and the other non heterosexual issues. I’m in the “ none of my business what 2 consenting adults do in the bedroom” camp. But there are a lot of minors who are publicly parroting these behaviors not because they are truly non heterosexual but as a form of rebellion or as attention grabbing and the adults are making special concessions to enable the behaviors.I agree with you. But in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t bother me much. Just like I wouldn’t care if the number was 17. I would care if it was 14

Flame away.
States should be free to set their respective ages of consent.I agree with you. But in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t bother me much. Just like I wouldn’t care if the number was 17. I would care if it was 14
States should be free to set their respective ages of consent.
But if Joe at 16 is emotionally (and legally) capable of electing gender affirming surgery.
Then Jill at 16 is emotionally (and legally) capable of consenting to banging Mr Smith next door.
Wait, you don’t think a 13 year old girl should be able to consent to sexual activity with the next door neighbor? Those arguments just get too uncomfortable to even engage in. As long as where I live has reasonable laws (16 or higher for most things), I’m just not going to waste the energy
Trans people played a huge role in gay people getting the rights and acceptance they do have. Stonewall and a lot of the Pride movement was led by Black trans womenWe can probably easily guess their motivations for doing it.
And transgender individuals certainly exist.
But what would you say to others that question if LGB should be conflated with T?
T seems to have a fundamentally different position than LGB.
Obviously the community will choose how they are defined, but it seems LGB has been taking incremental strays being associated with T.
You're not wrong, but like any fad it will fade. We're still talking a whopping 0.6% of the population. It doesn't mean they should be erased, though. And i have to say the whole child mutilation thing is attention grabbing histrionics. Surgeries on minors is exceedingly rare, and even in those examples we're talking teens. I'm against them, but I wish we could all tell the truth. Puberty blockers is a different topic, and I think we don't know what type of long-term effects they could have. They're reversible, but are there residual impacts? Not sure. What bothers me is the crazy amount of attention that’s been brought to this issue and the other non heterosexual issues. So only trans people butcher children? The numbers would say otherwise. Most trans people are good people just like most white, black, Latino etc are good people. Don’t let the minority of any group of people be your decision maker on how a group acts.Or think butchering children is a valid course of action.
Okay, you've gone with a straw man fallacy claiming I have suggested some ridiculous proposition. Never said anything remotely close to the first line of this post of yours. So only trans people butcher children? The numbers would say otherwise.
