The Rap/Hip-Hop thread

No I was referring to "greatest alive" part. Every rapper thinks he is the greatest alive

Take the roughest cats and get em passionate
Shake awake the walking dead Lazarus
With off-the-head narratives, it's embarrassing
I mean, I'm the albino but y'all pale in comparison
I'm not arrogant, oh ****, well yeah, I'm arrogant
Grab the microphone out your arm so fast I tear a limb
Roman fashion, give yo soul a spasm
If you don't know find someone that knows and ask him
I'm right in front of ya, tight mutha****in' mic muzzler
Who might struggle ya, my ****'s wild like that
There's 8 million ways to stretch words around beats
And 6 million rappers be sharin the same three
But me takin the time to be creative with mine
Touch your soul till I see it in your face when I rhyme
And in the two or three seconds it may take to rewind
I hold a rapper to the flames until I make him resign
Want nobody hold your place in this line, you find a space to recline
You're dead, got to stay breakin your spine

Brother Ali

One of my favorite verses of any song and always thought that line in particular was pretty funny and honest about your point.

Anything with Talib is automatically better. Ms. Hill is still one of my favorites. That hook is just... damn that hook.

He was on NPR's Fresh Air the other day. I didn't know his parents were Sociology and English professors. Explains a lot about his lyrical content.

In still holding out hope for another Black Star album.

Was he hollering?

No he was just chilling I guess with his entourage. I was unaware he was 6'3. I don't really listen to him but I remember seeing a picture of him once and when I saw his face I knew that he looked familiar and then I realized it was him. He is a pretty noticeable character.

New Talib Kweli track that came out a few days ago from his upcoming album "Prisoner of Conscious"

I would greatly love a whole album of collaboration between Lupe Fiasco and Talib Kweli. If Em and Royce can do it surely they can.

Talib Kweli and Black Thought would be my preference. Not really a big fan of Lupe, but that's just me.

I've always liked Lupe ever since The Cool. Hip Hop Saved my Life and the remix to Superstar are killers, but to this day I still love Streets On Fire more than almost any song he's done.

Or Talib Kweli and Freddie Gibbs...

I just saw Waka Flocka Flame at Lenox Square Mall. WOW he is a big fellow.

In San Diego last summer I met a former roommate of my bro-in-law, and he works narcotics unit law enforcement in LA. I guess Waka Flocka is a hard core Blood, and this guy and his unit actually used one of his music videos to do ID a bunch of the Blood's major players. He was like, "until this video came out we had no idea who some of these guys were." Kinda funny.

I forgot about them, one of my all time favorite songs was "Are You Ready 4 Us" by Three 6 Mafia and The Dayton Family
