The Real Cunzo Martin Just Stood Up

He might as well get horizontal again.
Every loss like this is another nail in the coffin of his career at UT.

Just before I've decided he is a bad coach he goes and wins an important game. EVERY TIME!!! Would not surprise me if we win UK and/or FL and lose to some awful teams.

Been that way the whole time he has been in Knoxville . You would think him or anyone on his staff would have considered switching Richardson off Jones in second half .

Not Martin's fault Maymon doesn't make his free throws. Not Martin's fault a prayer is thrown up and it goes in.

Let's let the season play out. I have a feeling we are going to like how it ends.

I'll give you the Maymon part but we had THREE timeouts left and he didn't call a timeout to set up a play. He just let McRae dribble down the court and throw up a prayer.

That is the mark of a clueless coach.

Not Martins fault he uses 1 time-out the entire game either.. And that was just because he was going to lose it so he called it at the end of the first half. Look, it's obvious this guy is the second coming of Wade Houston, or even Derek Dooley if you want a football comparison. He makes zero in-game adjustments, the refs don't respect him so he gets a lot of "crappy" calls , and he is the most boring speaker I have ever listened to. I think he is probably a really great guy and upstanding individual but his job is not to be nice, it's to coach and win ball games. I truly believe as long as he is here, we will be a middle of the pack SEC team that has above average talent. He just can't coach!

It should not have come down to that point with better coaching.

While these statements are true....it sounds too much like the last days of Fulmer arguments.

Disagree. If Cuonzo knows who can and cant make free throws then it is his responsibility to have the makers on the floor.

I don't want to pile on the guy but the maddest I was at game tonight. Was when that terrible call happened 2 feet in front of him and he turned his head instead of chewing the official. He is a passive personality. There is no doubt the guy knew how to play this game being a solid pro. But teaching, preparing and placing others to play it......not for him.

strange how a hot shooting stretch can make him look like he knows what hes doing huh

That is true because if not for the "hot shooting" against VA and LSU we could be on a losing streak of multiple games since CCM obviously can't coach enough to help teams that have poor shooting nights.

It's martins fault that maymon was in the game!!!! He knew they were gonna foul and make us make free throws so he should've had his best free throw shooters in there. So YES it is on counzo!!!!!!!!

Lmao wait....

So Martin gets no credit for those wins because his players got hot shooting.

Yet it's all Martin's fault tonight because his players weren't as hot, and ultimately lost the game.

Makes sense.

I don't hold him accountable for his players not making baskets.

He was a deer in the headlights after the 3 pointer with 4.4 left on the clock. He should have a play drawn up to deal with this before ever stepping on the floor.

plenty were giving him praise for pushing tempo and getting guys in rhythm to make shots during that stretch.

whatever fits your agenda though

Yup. I get not calling a timeout, they're out of position, celebrating, and maybe you can get a quick one...but our execution was bad.
