The Real Cunzo Martin Just Stood Up

Just before I've decided he is a bad coach he goes and wins an important game. EVERY TIME!!! Would not surprise me if we win UK and/or FL and lose to some awful teams.

How is trading 2 wins for a loss exceptable with this type of talent and experience?

Been that way the whole time he has been in Knoxville . You would think him or anyone on his staff would have considered switching Richardson off Jones in second half .

Just give Josh some help. Jones was killing Josh who's our best on ball defender....at least run a double team at him and force the ball out of his hands. Jeez.

You mean like UTEP or NC State?

I don't hold him accountable for his players not making baskets.

He was a deer in the headlights after the 3 pointer with 4.4 left on the clock. He should have a play drawn up to deal with this before ever stepping on the floor.

that is the one thing I understand. Once the 3 ball fell it was like, how many plays can you draw up for full court in that short period. What if he calls timeout and we can't inbound the ball. If it was the NBA rule where a timeout advances the ball then no question he takes it and draws up a play.

Richardson is a good defender , Jones got in his head tonight . Martin never made any adjustment on defense tonight .

That is true because if not for the "hot shooting" against VA and LSU we could be on a losing streak of multiple games since CCM obviously can't coach enough to help teams that have poor shooting nights.

Bingo. The last few games high fg pct masked his inabilities. they needed a coach tonight and there isn't one to be found on the vols sideline

Lmao wait....

So Martin gets no credit for those wins because his players got hot shooting.

Yet it's all Martin's fault tonight because his players weren't as hot, and ultimately lost the game.

Makes sense.

You can spin it anyway you like, bottom line, Cuonzo is out of his league when it comes to in-game coaching. No way a coach should have 4 time-outs left at the end of a game like this, much less any game. Even Barton said after A&M hit the 3 to go ahead that " there was nothing set up, I didn't even know how much time was left" Maybe using one of your 4 time-outs to draw something up and get the guys organized might have helped?

Or Barton could've paid attention. That's as lame of an excuse as a baseball player not knowing the number of outs.

I'm amazed at all of the CCM apologists. Obviously some fans are happy with being irrelevant in basketball and hosting (and losing) a first round NIT game every year. Wow.

I'm amazed at all the posers, I mean posters, that come on here after a loss, but stay away after big wins. Wow.

Everyone doesn't get down on their knee and bow with their head to the floor in praise mode after we beat some weak sister team. Bet you are still giddy over beating Tusculum.

Do you attend the games? Have season tix? I do and am sick and tired of wasting my money on an inferior product. I will not be renewing my tix next season unless Bruce Pearl is coaching or at least a coach I can get excited about.

There's just a few apologists IMO. They've dug in so deep with CM, it's hard for them to crawl out. Home court advantage is a non factor under the CM watch.

I don't have season tickets because I'm busy paying off my student loans. However, I go to as many as I can seeing as how I don't live in Knoxville and am busy working 2 jobs, volunteering a lot in my community, etc, but was there last night. And good, someone else will buy them.

It's completely true and you know it. Maybe 1/3 of the number of threads were created after the UVA and LSU wins vs last night. Fair weather fans, or just those that wish for Martin to fail.

You and the few worshipers are content to live with mediocre basketball as long as ccm is courtside licking his fingers while the rest want him to earn his money. We both know where you are coming from.

Or we just don't live in "gimme self entitlement" world as you and others live in. And by the way, I was in 312 last night and actually heard Martin coaching all the way up there, for those that claim he does nothing all game.

The guy isn't getting it done with the best talent we've had in years. Martin deserves criticism. It's unbelievable that you guys don't think he should be criticized. He's in year three and he rightfully should be slammed for losing games like last night.

Exactly. Good teams with good coaching do at least one thing very well. Ray Mears teams controlled tempo with less talent and won with superior free throw shooting at the end of games. BP teams had a superior inbounds defense for some crucial baskets. I see nothing with this team since Martin has been here to make me believe we can ever have that. Jerry Green won games and was fired. Buzz didn't and was. Don Devoe won games but was fired because he couldn't get the sexy recruit to go to the next level. UT has messed up in basketball more times than we have gotten it right. We need a Bruce Pearl type who can instill confidence we can walk onto any court and have a chance. Ray Mears teams didn't win them all, but more often than not we thought we had a good chance to beat anyone. That is what we need to find. I love my alma mater dearly but I am sick and embarrassed by what is on the court.
