The Reds Thread Part 2: Rally time

Except for the part about Baker, this post is an example of why the internet and sports radio are high comedy.

what has he proven in cincy. we can stay around 500 and lose our division with a horrible manager. if these prospects are so good where are they at. right now we are one of the worst hitting teams in baseball through the last 3 months. I keep hearing of all these trade but don't see one.

Nah, he needs to be fired. The Reds need to return to the glory days of the Wayne Krivsky Era.

name one guy on our starting line up that jocketty drafted. I'm pretty sure there isn't one. You can say what you want about prospects but so far either they made the majors and were sent back or haven't made it that far yet. the great jock also signed chapman which seems to be not to good of an investment so far and kept dusty around to run the club into the ground. So we have alot of role players and a great farm club. wow we could be the indians. prospects are just that, when they get to the majors and if they produce then I will give him credit. Maybe i'm being to hard on the guy, but anybody that would keep dusty around, come on how good can he be?

“I’d prefer not to trade a lot of prospects,” Jocketty said. “But, in the right deal, I’d have to consider it. It won’t be a short-term solution. It would be a long-term solution.”

That’s probably tells you the Reds will not pursue Beltran.

Jimenez and Pence are players they would control longer.
While Jocketty would not reveal his list of untouchable prospects, he laughed when Fay mentioned catcher Devin Mesoraco.
The Rockies have asked the Reds about Homer Bailey, tweets Troy E. Renck of the Denver Post.
A few interesting things from mlbtr.

Why did Washington give up two minor leagues for Gomes? Why?

Neither is great. Reds got organizational depth

I mean, that's fine for the Reds.

But why would the Nats want a guy who only hits lefties, is a terrible defender, will be a free agent after the season, and they are nowhere near the playoff race? Why waste two minor leaguers (even if they aren't big time prospects) like that?

Rhinehart is old for his league (26) but it looks like he is killing the ball. It will be interesting to see if they promote Soto to AAA, or leave him in AA and send Rhinehart to AAA. Manno stats look pretty good for a reliever. 1.7 Ks per nine in A ball. More than I expected.

It's gonna take him a hell of a long time to break Nolan Ryan's K record...

To borrow from Gordon Ramsay, "Shut It Down!" Throw in the towel and start working on '12. See if Cordero and Hernandez can fetch some prospects. I would probably see if Bray might have a little value on the market, too.
