... if any of you are on FaceBook, there has been a group for some time, called, Football Fans Against Tom Ritter. So it's not just us who thinks he pulls calls out of his *&%%^.

(seriously, a short lateral wrist-pull across your chest is "taunting" but a backwards high-stepping for several yards is nothing????)

Ritter is one of the very worst, with possible exception of Alama Matthews, Vandy grad, who should NEVER be allowed to call a UT game.

the taunting call was not for the "throat slash" but was for standing over a down player and actually taunting him

Agreed. I'm not disputing the touchback call, but the unsportsmanlike penalty and P.I. Call at the end of regulation were both pure B.S.

He and his crew are terrible. I'd like to know how many questionable calls his crew has made when an underdog almost upsets an SEC contender?

Sadly, the SEC elite (aka Steve Shaw and Mike Slive) have a man-crush on Tom Ritter. Watch the games that he and his crew works. The higher rated team almost always gains an advantage from their officiating.

Amazing that UT had 30% more penalties and 50% more penalty yards than Georgia today (and Georgia under Richt has habitually been one of the more penalized teams in the conference). What makes that amazing is that other SEC officiating crews for the first 2 games, had ZERO penalties against UT... Umm. :eek:hmy:

My thoughts exactly. Verne was clueless as to the correct reason for the call. As a team we need to learn how to compete without losing focus. Way too many penalties today.

I saw that but our player smacked the uga player on the side of the helmet. Not a taunt smack but a good play smack.pretty weak if you ask me.

UGA has a better right to complain than we do. I didn't think the calls were that bad. Just a relatively good game by both sides.

There are probably 5 to 15 of these instances every week in the SEC without penalty!

maybe but you don't take the chance and give UGA good field position after a good ST play

no the player was on the ground with a UT player standing over him

PI in end was BS. Stopyping the play after snap 5 seconds into play was bad. Then piled on with the call on Butch was BS , unless he called the ref a C Sucker. Didn't get the slap to Worley's head on 3rd down. Only call all game that went our way was tehe North TD but it was reviewed. With that being said, one heck of a ball game. Proud of boys, they deserved to win. We played harder, hit harder, ran better, coached better. Sort of wish Neal had stopped at the one and kicked a FG with less time left for Murray. So close yet so far. Again proud of team and fans.

does anybody know what PF penalty was when announcers said took helmet off lineman. Replay showed hands to chest no helmet contact.

I don't like seeing him officiating a game either. He and his crew missed a few calls that went to Georgia favor. Overall though it wasn't all that bad of a game. Pass interference was one of the bad ones.

This game wasn't THAT terribly called. Equal bad calls for both teams (although ours at the end hurt the worst). That being said, Ritter is the worst ref in the NCAA as far as I'm concerned. I hate when he refs any game, especially ours.

No.

He was called for the throat slash

No. Taunting was called on #30 (Smith) for taunting over a player on the ground. That was the number called out by the referee on the public address system.
The throat slash by #34 (Reaves-Maybin) was not called by the referee but by confused broadcasters.
