The ref Tom Ritter ...

I don't know which entrance/exit the refs normally leave the stadium by, but at the end of the game they sure did rush over to the GA sideline, and then left out of the exit right where the GA fans were sitting.

Based on some very mean spirited posts I've seen over the years on VN, I don't blame the officials for exiting this way. It minimizes their chances of being gutted by a shank or screwdriver.

Didn't see it mentioned, but Worley took a hand to the face...right in front of Ritter. I suppose all QBs except ours are being protected by the Refs.

Yep, they missed that one. Worley took a paw to the side of the helmet and the refs let it go. Ritter is a clown!

No matter the sport, Ref threads never fail to disappoint.

I've watched the SEC officiating closely over the last years and I'm 100% convinced that they call in favor of teams who are undefeated or are on track of playing in the National Title game. We obviously got ****ed yesterday by a SEC crew who was blatantly calling in favor of Georgia. This has been a common theme though and especially with Florida and Bama in the past. In 2009 when Florida played Arkansas the refs did everything known to man to let them win the game. Two years ago the refs didn't call Bama for holding once all year. I'm convinced that the league told these refs to do what they could to sabotage the game for us and they are continuing the same **** they've been doing the last several years.

If you really believe that, then I have no idea why you continue to watch college football.

im not going to blame the refs. we should have made a play to win it. i will say that i was not pleased with that PI call on the last drive and i have never seen a coach get flagged for yelling at the refs, which certainly seems suspect.

It looks bad on the refs they need to call the gm both ways. In my opinion the refs got flag happy at the end of the gm. I told my buddy watch they will keep throwing flags until they get GA in the endzone

This gm was another example of you can't leave the gm in the refs hands. Because its always going to favor the team who has got more to play for.

This is getting idiotic.

We got beat. I didn't like it either, but using the refs as a crutch is lame.

Unless you can show me indisputable evidence that Pigs hand lost possession before the stripe, I'm absolutely blaming the ref in the booth for throwing this game.

They know the rules and had plenty of time to review. Pig possessed the football reaching the plane while turning the nose of the ball out and let go. Touchdown! NOT one shred of evidence, much less 'indisputable evidence' exists showing he lost possession before the plane. Fingers and thumb on ball, no separation... That's robbery in plain sight. No excuse to overturn from the booth.

That's a touchdown people. Overturning that score is an outrage.

I could be mistaken but doesn't only the TIP of the ball have to cross the plane for it to be a TD?

I find it a little strange that the ref that was RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE PLAY called it a TD.

As a crutch yes it's lame. Blaming the refs for missing blatantly obvious calls its absolutely justified. Unsportsmanlike penalty on CBJ? Yeah that gets called all the time. Clear face mask on Worley, BS pass interference call in the end zone, multiple holding against UTs defense. Sorry to tell you but these are inexcusable misses. I am it saying its a crutch, we lost. I get it, but don't act like the refs are completely immune to criticism for their ineptitude. They did not cause us to lose, but they certainly did not make it any easier.

yes, but he lost possession in the process about 3 inches from the white stripe.
I don't fault the replay ruling.

Just a touch of the plane is sufficient. One easy way to remember is to think about spotting a ball. You can't spot a ball with the nose on the end zone chalk or touching the first down marker without it being a touchdown. Similarly, if a foot touches the boundary chalk, it's out of bounds.

What indisputable evidence shows lost possession before the stripe?

Fingers and thumb still on ball, no separation, still turning the ball.

The video from the rear of end zone shows him clearly manipulating the ball to turn nose out then deliberately releasing with thumb and flicking his wrist and fingers to push ball sideways.

There simply was ZERO evidence of lost possession before plane of goal - much less indisputable evidence.

I wish it had gone the other way, but from what I saw on the replay Jumbotron at the game, from the goal line angle, there was separation (space) between his hand and the ball before it (ball) crossed the plane; barely.
