Not trying to be "that guy" ...my favorite bands growing up were TOOL, AiC, Deftones, Korns early stuff, rage, Pantera, etc...

Seems like every thing posted here these days is people yelling and growling very angry, unintelligible lyrics...speed metal pace on guitars and drums...do y'all listen to anything where people sing like Maynard from TOOL, or Layne, or Chris Cornell, or even rap like Zack from Rage...and maybe they slow down on their instruments a little..are there any good bands like that anymore? I have seen Ghost, and what are the 2 that are always on the radio..can't remember their names. Anyway...is anybody making any music these days similar to the above bands? I know that nobody is gonna sound like TOOL, not even PC or Puscifer...but are there any good "rock" bands anymore with front men that sound good?

I hear you. We have similar tastes in heavier music. I can't get into a lot of the speed/screamo stuff, either.

They aren't all completely recent, but you might check out Volbeat, 5FDP, Chevelle, In This Moment, Halestorm, Bullet for my Valentine, 10 Years, and Breaking Benjamin. I also really like the Christian rock band Red, and Skillet and Thousand Foot Krutch have some good songs too.

You should check out Amorphis. They used to be a death metal band but added all these different elements to their sound over the years. “Her Alone” is a mellow track with normal singing.

I like those bands. I also like brutal death metal. But for what you are asking...I'm not too sure..I haven't listened to radio in like 20 years. This thread is for rock and metal. I'm a metal guy..if I hear good rock Ill post it..but..I dont listen to radio so..

I'd put Disturbed in the category you're talking about; they can be heavy but Draiman can sing very well and most of their songs are melodic outside of their first album which was nu-metal heavy.

Godmack maybe, Erna doesn't grunt but doesn't have a smooth voice, it's very gritty and raw, and he can sing when he needs to. Avenged Sevenfold's later stuff fits as Shadows stopped screaming after City of Evil.

As far as any new bands, I couldn't tell you.

I'm not a big music person, but i heard a song at the bowling alley tonight. I inew it was zombie, but not the cranberries, yet it sounded great. I looked it up, and it's a group called Bad Wolves. They rocked that song imo.

It’s an amazing cover. Dolores was supposed to do the remake with the same band, but of course she passed away. It gave me chills, dudes voice is powerful and he put his heart and soul into it. One of my all time favorite songs, the 90’s were the best.
