The thing I like about Tobias the most is the attitude. I don't know if UT has had someone with such a single-minded goal to win since JaJuan Smith, and before that, Slay maybe? There were two times tonight when I thought Tobias was going to stare a hole through someone. (One play involved Woolridge and the other Golden, I think).

That being said, I still have serious concerns about our offense and hope Tatum stays healthy. If not, I have big worries.

Going back to Slay is unnecessary. Tennessee has had a number of players with serious limitations whose focus on winning led them to overachieve in recent years. Vol favorites Loften, Bradshaw, and Chism to name a few.

Tobias sorta reminds me of Vlade Divac, although a little shorter, obviously. Vlade wasn't the most athletic guy, but the offense, especially when he was in Sacramento, ran through him at the 4 spot, like Tobias, and Divac had great vision with a nice touch around the basket. I think that Tobias will have more of the offense run through him as the season moves along and becomes more comfortable with the college game.

Harris is significantly more athletic and plays a completely different position.

Tobias kinda reminds me of Larry Bird. Can't jump, good body control, great touch around the basket, good instincts, good ball skills on the perimeter, sees the floor, very competitive, good leadership. Obviously Bird was at a different level as a shooter, but it seems a better comparison than Melo or Bosh or Divac.

Significantly? Not really. And both were frontcourt players who spent much of their time operating from the top of the key. It's not like I'm comparing him to Nate Washington, which would be a completely different position.

I was watching and doing other things, so I only saw glimpses; Fields made a couple buckets and looked pretty good on one stretch, what do u expect of him?

You know who Tobias really reminds me of?

A shorter, better post game, not as good ball-handling Lamar Odom.

Tobias is all fundamental...he doesn't really use his athleticism to score...he just puts the ball in the basket. I don't know why people are comparing him to Melo, Bosh, or Pippen. Those guys are freakishly athletic whereas Tobias' strength is fundamentals and touch around the basket.

The offense obviously needs to go through him. I'm hoping as we get closer to conference play we'll see him touch the ball on every possession and we'll have a more inside/out game where guys like Tatum can knock down shots. I would also like to see Goins and Hopson drive and dish more.

Not as athletic and much more refined. I see your point though.

Much more refined than Odom? Come on. I think he's good. But Odom can legitimately run the 1 at the NBA level. To say Harris is more refined is stretching it, a lot.

I should have said "Shorter, not as athletic, better post game, more defined, not as good ball handler better boxing out, right handed Lamar Odom" :)

1. I liked the understated introductions. No flash, just the information.
2. Tennessee's inability to pass, catch, or dribble the ball is startling. I shudder to think what they'll look like against a team that can get up into them defensively at all five positions.

1. Wasn't at the game, but this sounds incredibly refreshing. I don't know why every big-time college program thinks they're the mid-90s Chicago Bulls before tipoff.

2. It's the worst ballhandling UT team I've seen in ages. For the life of me, I can't understand why Woolridge or McBee sees the floor. Neither guy offers anything special IMO, and certainly they don't help on the ballhandling issue. I'm actually okay with Pearl getting his minutes. At least he's physical and (for the most part) knows his role. Hopson needs to stick to his pull-up J - he gets in trouble when he tries to make the extra dribble through post defenders. Coach should limit him to 5 dribbles max per possession. Golden may not be a true point, but I think he's got a lot of potential - looks like he'll get a lot more mins tonight with Goins out.

Refs: Remember, the head of officiating was there, so you have to think the whistles will blow a little extra. Plus, we're a fast and sloppy team. Fouls will happen often. I really only saw two bad calls the whole night. Just frustrating when there's a call every time down the court.

Hopson: The thing I was most pleased with is I never saw him slump over after something bad happened with that dumb look on his face. There seemed to be something a little more mature about him (not necessarily about his game with this statement).

No. It's going to be broadcasted locally in Arkansas by the CW. Maybe someone there will rebroadcast it on the internet.

Otherwise, it's radio only.

10-4, thanks. Looks like I will be trying to watch the game on the PS3 like I did the Memphis football game.
