1. Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver's rendition of the National Anthem was worth the price of admission. There's a reason they are bluegrass legends.
2. Good job by the dance team of firing the crowd up before the game. Nothing says "Let's Go To War" like a redux of the Melissa Etheridge routine.
3. Florida stayed out for the Anthem. Good job, Billy Munster.
4. Erving Walker flat abused Melvin Goins. Easily the worst defensive performance of Goins' career.
5. Tennessee is up 29-21 with all the momentum and loses Chandler Parsons twice at the three point line. That's the kind of lapse that loses games.
6. Tobias Harris was very good offensively. He was utterly atrocious defensively.
7. If anyone wonders why I think so little of Scotty Hopson's game, go back and watch the offensive possession at 66-64. It will be self explanatory.
8. The coaching staff was in utter disarray during overtime. It looked like they were attempting to herd cats.
9. The magic show at halftime was awesome. Awesome in its complete and total idiocy.
10. Saturday is now a must win. Lose to Vanderbilt and the season is officially off the tracks.

I think you nailed it with the cat herding description.

I'm now wondering if we actually will finish this season over .500 rather than just if we will make the tourny.

The season is already off the tracks. I thought Scotty worker on his ball handling this past summer. He sucks at dribbling

Well we can all pray that Scotty attempts to play hard, we develop a half court offense out of thin air, and we stick to our defensive assignments for multiple games in a row.... Until then we are who they thought we were.

I believe that this team can make the big dance but not this way. Why can't this team come out and play against everyone the way they did at Pitt? Why do we play down to our opponent? This stuff is getting crazy.

games we are guaranteed to win the rest of the season....@georgia (assuming they are ranked), @uconn, @kentucky, vs kentucky

Sorry to ask so many questions, but is it the coaches fault for poorly preparing and motivating the players or simply the players have poor attitudes against teams they should beat?

We are not a smart basketball team and I am not sure we are all that talented...for thr 9k that showed up nice game.just remember the coaches and players shouldn't beg you to be fans. Have fun if were going to lose let's atleast be rowdy..I guess getting home won't be hard there is no traffic..GOVOLS beat Vandy..

This team will be lucky to make the NIT, and that isn't me panicking or overreacting. It's a fact.

When we are hitting our outside shots early, our guys hustle and we are a really tough team to beat (Nova, Pitt, Memphis). That might happen 2 or 3 more times this year, but without that, this team is probably going to struggle to win every game. We can't get easy baskets, and teams are going to take away our very few strengths (Harris getting the ball, and Hopson working in space).

And this game had nothing to do with motivation or effort. The guys brought it tonight, they just got beat. They still can't play half court offense, and they still can't defend screens 99% of the time. That will get you beat almost always.

There were spats of tremendous efforts I don't mean to undermine that but the defense was mostly just blatantly lazy on the perimeter. I can understand not keeping up with walker and boykin but how do you lose a 6-8 white boy in the corner? Just seems like this team is giving up a little more each game. Also the interior defense was simply horrendous.

I agree, but I don't even think it's laziness as much at it is just bad and clueless defense. They just don't know how to rotate or who to guard. Teams with halfway decent ball movement (every team we have lost to) make us look hilarious on defense. It's pitiful. Laziness is part of it sometimes, no doubt.

Tobias Harris has got to step it up on defense. I wonder if his lack of effort/skill on that end is contributing to team disunity.

Poor Scotty. He was overrated coming out of high school. He does not have NBA talent. He never did. The lofty expectations have made his life miserable. It is hard to excel and exceed expectations when everyone expects you to do things that you are not capable of. I honestly beleive if he had come here as a 3-star recruit and no one expecting him to be the second coming of Allan Houston, he would have had a better career. I know he would have been happier.

Also, if Pearl is on the sideline, we win this game in regulation. I know you think that basketball survives and thrives if Pearl leaves, hat. But I watched four coaches come here and fail before Pearl. For someone my age, losing Pearl is like walking into the abyss. i just don't know what would happen. Tonights game and the last one, remind me so much of buzzball. I see them as reasons we need Bruce to stay. I don't understand how he didn't get fired. But the decision was made, and I am glad.
