I agree, but I don't even think it's laziness as much at it is just bad and clueless defense. They just don't know how to rotate or who to guard. Teams with halfway decent ball movement (every team we have lost to) make us look hilarious on defense. It's pitiful. Laziness is part of it sometimes, no doubt.
There's no reason for this team to look unbeatable at times and god-awful at other times. It's one thing to look average consistently and pull some upsets. This team is is extremely bi-polar.

1. Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver's rendition of the National Anthem was worth the price of admission. There's a reason they are bluegrass legends.
2. Good job by the dance team of firing the crowd up before the game. Nothing says "Let's Go To War" like a redux of the Melissa Etheridge routine.
3. Florida stayed out for the Anthem. Good job, Billy Munster.
4. Erving Walker flat abused Melvin Goins. Easily the worst defensive performance of Goins' career.
5. Tennessee is up 29-21 with all the momentum and loses Chandler Parsons twice at the three point line. That's the kind of lapse that loses games.
6. Tobias Harris was very good offensively. He was utterly atrocious defensively.
7. If anyone wonders why I think so little of Scotty Hopson's game, go back and watch the offensive possession at 66-64. It will be self explanatory.
8. The coaching staff was in utter disarray during overtime. It looked like they were attempting to herd cats.
9. The magic show at halftime was awesome. Awesome in its complete and total idiocy.
10. Saturday is now a must win. Lose to Vanderbilt and the season is officially off the tracks.

7. Is that the possession when the clock is running down, he dishes to Goins at the top of the key and a horrible shot is thrown up?

Such a dysfunctional team as a whole.
5 is an offensive liabilty
4 Not much to say about
3 UMMM Cam can you do more than just stand in one spot?
2 Cant go to his right, bad dribble, horrible shot selection
1 No offense

I hate this team.

These guys don't know how to play together, they lack effort, and they seem clueless at least 25% of the time. They play well below their potential.

First team under Pearl I just can't stand. Reminds me of the Green era ...

Someone please tell Tony to focus more on coaching and less on waving his arms. We'll make plenty of noise once this team decides to give consistent effort.

I think all the comments about Jerry Green and Buzzball are spot on. This is like an exact repeat of watching the team when Yarbrough was a senior and they were about .500 on the year. I think we'll see the same thing this year. Every game will be an absolute grind, and we'll be lucky to finish above 500 in the conference.

This post. I can't stand watching them. I instead watched Lights Out (which, while the 1st episode was a little slow, looks to be a great series.

Also, I never miss UT games. Only one I intentionally missed for something was Wyoming 08 (thank God).

Since this is the post game thread why is there always 4 ,5, or more threads discussing the game? Just curious...

One thing's for sure, Tony Jones is NOT helping his head coaching prospects. I'm not sure if they were very good anyway, but they're not improving.

I know it sounds silly, but since this lineup isn't working, I'd put the best athletes on the floor. That means no Pearl, no McBee, and no Williams getting the majority of the minutes. My starting lineup would be:

Golden
Hopson
Harris
Hall
Maymon

2nd team:
Goins
Tatum
McRae
Fields
Williams

There needs to be either Hopson, Harris, or Tatum on the floor at all times for scoring. The other guys can play good d, get rebounds, and get their shot when it is there. But having Tatum, Hopson, and Harris all on the floor almost hurts us because their games are all very similar, and they need the ball in a one-on-one matchup to be effective.

Drastic changes need to be made because this ain't working. Plain and simple.

Last year we got lucky with addition by subtraction (Tyler Smith getting booted, Tatum, Williams, and Goins missing significant minutes). It allowed JP, Wayne, and Maze to step up and be leaders. We need that to happen again, and I think it needs to happen by adjusting the roster significantly. We have no identity on offense. It is very similar to how we looked the first part of last year.

If Pearl, a guy who has had tremendous, and I mean TREMENDOUS success here can't get these guys to play well together, it's extremely unfair to assume his assistant coach is going to succeed in two games. Lay off T. Jones. He ain't the problem.

So the acting head coach impresses you???

Give me something to make noise about and I'll be as loud as anybody in there but the acting head coach waving his arms at the crowd just ain't gonna do it!

No, not so far, he doesn't impress me. The fans don't either. He's trying to teach basketball, unfortunately he has to teach the crowd too.

i think we can easily turn this around. This is more mental and i expect Bruce and staff to fix that.

We might be able to turn it around, but I'm skeptical.

But by no means will it be easy. There are SEVERAL problems, and none are easy to fix.

Forgot to mention that the geriatric ref was on the take. His whistle was so one sided its obvious someone is padding his pocket (mike slive). And tony jones did absolutely nothing about it. I was begging for a technical, but alas, tony jones is an idiot.

Us playing like we were just butt plugged ( Brian Williams would actually enjoy) doesn't always mean the refs screwed us over.

Better crowd than I expected, pretty weak in the noise department though. Tough loss. This team's effort is just sickening at times, inconsistent in every aspect. Sick and tired of seeing Brian Williams play like a pussy. Tired of the standing around on offense.

Florida was hitting just about everything and was just destroying us in the paint. Macklin and Tyus were both hitting alot of video game shots. We gave Parsons a couple of wide open looks.

Saturday is going to be ugly....

I agree, more there than expected, however, I thought noise was pretty good tonight.
