But why does his effort so obviously fluctuate from time to time and game to game? When he plays like he did towards the end, it just pisses me off that he doesn't more often.

Not knocking him at all and I wonder the same thing all the time, but maybe its his inner super fat kid lazy mentality...its weird because he's obviously worked hard to shed an entire humans worth of fat, just seems lazy oftentimes.

In other news, Billy Gillispie's phone is blowing up with calls from the Lubbock area.

Was at the Louisville game today and they came from 17 down with 6 minutes left. Got home in time to watch Vols come from 17 down. In both cases the officials let them play down the stretch.

Falcon better not get down 17 tonight, don't know if I can handle the excitement of another comeback.

Im starting to think 11 wins might get you a share of the conference title. 12 may win it outright.

I am in the same boat, though I will say that I think 11 wins might even be enough to win it outright this year.

Just my two cents.

Certainly off topic, but hat, any thoughts on Colorado? Just moved to 3-0 in Big 12 play.
I mentioned in a preseason column that I thought they'd be good. They've got an NBA backcourt. Once they got adjusted to the change in systems, they've been solid.

If Brian Williams plays like he did in the second half then he can negate some of the onslaught Tuesday of Thompkins. I think Peterson will outplay Goins and Cam will outplay their similar player. Hopson and Leslie are a wash I would guess.

Great stuff hatvol. Watched at home and I was so proud of the team for fighting back. Had to turn down the volume...DickieV is hard to take.

Besides the Jones/ Stallings argument with 2 left. There also seemed to be tension between Forbes and Jones throughout the game.

I think Forbes and Shay are having a bit of trouble adjusting to the fact that Jones is now their boss. That's understandable.

Nice job again. (Thought I'd post here since the thread I started was hijacked). Williams is so much like a yo yo.

Nice comments, as usual, especially regarding McBee (completely agree) and Taylor/Scotty (which I didn't notice, but makes sense). I will say that Scotty's missed dunk really put the team in the funk offensively in the first half. They're inconsistent already, and that got them way, way down. Also have to give some props to Brian. I haven't seen that spin move in a while, and we needed it. I'll be going to the UConn game on Saturday, and I hope to see more of that second half performance.

And, ukvols, you weren't the only one with obnoxious Vandy fans behind you. Yankee/valley girl/sorority slut. But four of them. Right behind me. Section 315, row 22.

Clearly the slide across the lane was a traveling violation but that was the refs trying to see if the player would give it up before he stopped....then an off foul was later to fix it... poor at best. Call the Dang game !!!!

Exactly where he needs to be.

I have no clue where Maymon was. We were getting abused in the first half by Vandy's big guy, #3. Fields was too small and Williams was too slow, we needed Maymon in there to bump some heads with the dude. I don't understand that coaching move.

I actually thought it was a foul, but the one thing I'm sure it wasn't was a good no-call. That has to be a foul or a walk.

There seems to be a lot of confusion about the play. This is an oft-misunderstood rule. Sliding across the floor with the ball is NOT a traveling violation. We definitely caught a break that the foul wasn't called, but the player did not travel by sliding.

Was Steven playing the 3 or the 4 yesterday? If it was the 4, seems like Maymon should get those minutes.
