The Section 103 Postgame Report.

We were flagged twice in Death Valley this year and everyone said it was the worst officials ever

I'm not sure what you're referring to. I just know that we have either had excellent or terrible officiating this season. Not really any middle ground.

My point is that fans always have the most shortsighted view of officiating. No matter how bad the previous game's officiating may or may not have been, today's game will always have the "worst" officiating ever. I have no recollection of any Tennessee game with worse officiating than the call against Armando Galarraga, but i tell you what, the UT-UGA game will definitely be the worst officiating ever. And after that, we will go to UCONN, and we will see the worst officiating ever.

That's what I'm referring to.

Look at the rules that are cited in this thread, my friend. It's a judgment call as to whether by sliding the player gains an advantage. Somehow, most people would consider covering 15 feet of ground without dribbling gaining an advantage. I've consistently said that the entire thread. Not sure how you're missing it.

The rule about whether sliding gained an advantage was adopted by the NBA a couple years ago and is irrelevant to the conversation. Neither the NCAA, FIBA, nor NFHS have a statement like this in their rulebook. All three permit sliding on the floor as long as the player does not roll over or try to stand up.

I'm with what you're saying now. You're comparing it to diving on a loose ball. In that situation, if your momentum carries you, it's not a walk. However, falling and sliding across the floor without establishing a pivot foot is a walk. And that was the case in the Vandy game.

all 3 do so in terms of a loose ball, not when a player has control of the ball prior to going to the floor. You can keep arguing, but this thing is about that particular case and it was a bad no call on either 1) the foul or 2) the travel. Ignoring it altogether was the absolute wrong call.
