I like that Bruce came up in the hallways and thanked us. I love Bruce and hope it's not his swan song as your blog predicts. I agree with you though especially after Hamiltons scattered boos presenting Houstons honor. What a ride it has been for 6 years making the dance. Too bad someone is about to cut in.

6. Scotty Hopson was not as effective as he has been. That was because he was mostly guarded by an elite defender.

I only caught the last 14 minutes, but it looked to me like Cal was platooning Liggins, Miller, and Lamb on him, playing very physically, with instructions to keep him out of the lane at all costs. He used 14 fouls between the three of them to do it, but it held him in check.

I'd also point out again the lack of post presence without Williams. The last three UK misses from the field resulted in 2 offensive rebounds and a tip out of bounds by Tennessee.

Yeah, definitely would've been nice to have Brian today, he certainly would've helped out on the boards. I really thought he'd play at least some today.

Hat, were you close enough to gather the words of the conversation between Liggins and Hopson at the foul line, when Tatum stepped in? It was pretty obvious as to the subject matter, just curious if anyone heard the actual verbal.

If you watched the last mad scramble of the day for a loose ball. You could tell 2 things. Kentucky wanted it more and we had 2 players getting ready for the NBA:rolleyes:. As they both reached for the ball while the KY players were on the floor looking for a fight. Same problem all year NO HEART:mad:
Best post in the thread period and spot on.

what about no on ball defense with 3 seconds left on the shot clock. A fundamentally sound defense would have never given up 3 points in that situation. We left far too many points on the court in the first half. Three on Two and two on one breaks should virtually always result in points. Lastly, and sadly...I have watched this team walk or jog the ball down the court with less than one minute left and losing by one or two possessions. They did it again with 15 seconds left. They are either uncoached, don't know the situation or don't care. There is not another excuse for a lack of urgency. I can't help but say...they are pitiful.

I disagree with this. We were scrambling for the ball just like they were. I thought we played extremely hard down the stretch, but the ball wasn't bouncing our way and we missed the offensive rebounding of Brian Williams.

Defensive rebounding was the issue.

Cam was not going hard.

The merits of the latest installment of "Glee". Liggins thought it was the best episode of the series; Hopson respectfully disagreed (while noting the high-quality choreography on the final musical production).

I especially liked Goins lowering the boom on knight. i was hoping it wouild rattle the dude but it didnt. Wasnt as good as goins racking Cousins up with the elbow late season though. Some people just deserve it.

I don't have anything nice to say about Cam right now.

I like him and want the light to come back on, but damn. Limited effort in practice is readily apparent on the floor. Unfortunately, we see limited effort in practice problems regularly.

Would you chalk it up to general laziness, frustration with a more limited role, or something entirely different?

It all comes down to matchups. The teams we can beat are teams with limited guard play, so we can turn them over and score in transition, or teams without legit 3-point threats, so we can pack it in and grind out victories in the 50's. The Lofton/JaJuan Smith era Pearl teams would have destroyed this year's Kentucky model. We were 2 of 9 from the three-point line today; Kentucky was 7-18. That's not going to get it done.

Probably a little of all of it. His knee situation has to take out some fire too.

Honestly, he's a supremely talented player and has just let it fritter away. Some of our lack of player development has to fall to the staff and their approach.

Serious question, who is coaching shooting for this team and videoing daily to track progress. Who is doling out weekly shooting charts and practice "suggestions?"

My understanding is that injuries are to blame. His knees have apparently been a problem all year.
All the more reason to force McRae into action since his redshirt was burned, but that's just my :twocents:

Simple. We don't have but one outside shot maker on the team. They shot it through the hole, we can't. Going into the paint is great, but if that's the only way you can score, opponents figure it out. Did we get any 50-50 balls today?
