1. Another soul crushing home loss. This team's inability to make key plays down the stretch on their own floor has dug them a nice little hole.
2. I try to keep the material in these reports fresh, but some things need to be emphasized. Ted Valentine is a crime against basketball. Any league that employs him should be ashamed.
3. Whoever booked that Steve Max idiot to do his Simon Says idiocy at halftime should be terminated. Immediately. If that's the best "show" you can put on at halftime, just do nothing.
4. I am thoroughly confused as to why Pearl didn't use the zone more extensively. LSU looked lost against it.
5. Trent Johnson has made a world of difference for that team. They were as poised and disciplined as any team I've seen live this year.
6. Emmanuel Negedu again showed why he should be playing 20 or more minutes a night. Tennessee's run in the second half essentially ended when he was taken out of the game.
7. I feel bad for Josh Tabb. He really tries, but his ballhandling during his minutes at the point is nothing short of atrocious.
8. Marcus Thorton, Tasmin Mitchell, and Chris Johnson are a solid nucleus. Given the weakness of the West, I wouldn't be shocked to see the Tigers in contention for the overall SEC title.
9. Marissa Miller is very attractive and all, but have some dignity. The clown running the video screen acted as if she were the first attractive woman ever to set foot in TBA.
10. The season now hinges on Saturday night. A loss there and this team goes into full scale free fall.

Agree Hat.

Bruce Pearl shows once again what a terrible in game coach he can be.

Maybe I'm just depressed from the way this season has unfolded... but give me a reason or two why the Vols will/can win on Saturday... because right now, I'm just not feeling it.

Florida can't go inside on Tennessee. So, if Florida is missing their perimeter shots, it could end up being a long day for them.

That's the way it looked at home, too, Hat. Couldn't make the game, but I'll be near your seats on Saturday!

2. Bruce should have started throwing chairs at all 3 of those clowns.

6. I will never understand why Negedu hasn't been playing more. I will not buy any excuses from Bruce for it.

11. I am very disappointed in the Students and Fans in general for not showing up. It does make it easy to find out the fairweather ones and bandwagon riders.

I wish I could give you a reason, but nothing immediately comes to mind.

This year has been so exhausting for me. God this pisses me off.
I'm not the least bit upset. I've resigned myself to the fact that this is a slightly better than average team with a coaching staff that lacks the chops to come up with adjustments to mask their weaknesses.

If that's truly the case... what hope do they have for next year?

I wasn't just referring to the basketball team. But yeah. It just sucks when the one thing in life you think will be good isn't. It's just exhausting. Oh well. I'll still be rooting for them every game.

Valentine probally wet his pants when the LSU guy stepped out and he realized that he could T up Bruce.

If West is eligible, the point guard position won't be as bad a mess as it is now. If Wayne and Tyler return, I would hope Bruce would take the offseason and adjust his strategy to his personnel. This team would be much better served playing a zone defense in the halfcourt and scrapping the flex for a more NBA esque offense loaded with set pieces.

does anybody know what they were discussing after the technical? they went to the upstairs or the replay monitor, it looked like.

did anybody hear Bruce's comments about that play after the game? they would have had to call the state troopers in to escort me off the court after that missed call. that was absolutely inexcusable.

As much as I despise Ted Valentine...I do blame Pearl for getting the T.

Yes the guy was clearly out of bounds. But the play was ongoing and Pearl throws a fit on the floor right in front of Teddy. Everyone knows Teddy isn't gonna pass up a coach on the playing floor raising hell. Even B. Pearl knows that...

Broadcasters said they were checking to see how much time should be on the clock.
