2. I've seen about all of Woolridge and Goins I care to.
3. He stands at the top of the key playing catch with Prince. Cannington or Hubert can do that.

1. I agree on Woolridge (he didn't play while I tuned in tonight, which was encouraging to me). Doesn't Goins at least provide some decent man-to-man D?
3. is that more a function of Goins' effort or the pseudo offense UT runs?

I don't know what is worse. Watching JP's "all around" play or Goins' foul shooting. Also, was it just me or did any body else notice that when Skylar was in the game it seemed that no one wanted to pass him the ball? Especially one time, he stood there clapping for at least 5 seconds wide open and never got the ball!

He hit 3 3's. Obviously they were passing him the ball because spotting up is the only way he is scoring. If they aren't passing him the ball, maybe it's because they are tired from covering for him on the defensive end. There were a few times when his guy dribbled by him before he ever moved his feet. If you notice, when his guy gets the ball the next closest defender shades over a little to "help".

1. As disjointed as it was, it's a win. Plenty of work to do with the week and a half without games.
2. After K State floundered through a win last night, Frank Martin said, "Either some guys are going to give us what we need out of them or I'm going to get them out of here." Pearl needs to apply that standard to a couple of guys.
3. The difference in ball and player movement when Maze and Tatum were in the game as opposed to Prince and Goins was stark. The rule should be simple: If you stand, you sit.
4. This team has to get better at end of clock situations. Holding the ball and jacking desperation heaves doesn't work out well.
5. Justin Tubbs can play. There are teams in the SEC who don't have a guard near as good as he is.
6. I believe it was the utter crappiness of the halftime show that blew the lights. Who decided a live reenactment of Breakin' 2 would be a entertaining?
7. I didn't understand the delay. Even with the bank of lights out, it was infinitely brighter than any game played at Mackey Arena of Freedom Hall in the '80s.
8. I wonder what marketing genius convinced ETSU to adopt their mascot/logo. It looks like the creepy ghost pirate from Scooby Doo.
9. Best game of the year for Brian Williams. He had a huge size advantage and used it.
10. Our point guard play is still dicey. That's what happens when you shop in the bargain D-I washout aisle.

10. They were on clearance.

Apparently Freak was quite enthralled by it.

Hat, I've felt Tatum has played pretty well and consistent so far this season. What are your thoughts on him?
Still doesn't have the burst he did when he got on campus, I'm hoping that it's just that his knees are slow to get back to 100%. Outside of that, I think he's been pretty good so far.

I've seen plenty of haltime shows over the years. Some good, some bad. UT has a special talent for picking the most idiotic acts possible. They should have the breakdancers team with the Simon Says assclown from last year and set a world record for suckitude.

I guess I forgot about the fact we have a team full of defensive "stoppers". I guess at least he is not a liabilty on both ends of the court unlike some others. I know he hit 3 three's but my point was he could have hit 2 or 3 more had he gotten the ball passed to him more.

I posted before this game started that the score would be a lot closer than people think. Tubbs is a baller. I'm not really sure what the fallout was at Alabama but I'd love him on our team and knew people would take notice after we played him. This is a serious issue with teams with good point guard play. It sounds like a broken record but wow!

From the short amount of time (thank God) it was on TV, I believe you and I break dancing while rapping would have even been an improvement.

Funny, because hat's 'Breaking 2' reference is exactly what went through my mind.
When that mess initially started, I thought it was some sort of joke. About two minutes in, I realized they were dead serious. At that point, I began laughing so hard my ribs are still aching.

Pretty sure Goins was not picked up in the Washout Aisle.

He came from a Flea Market or Yard Sale.

I would rather watch Goins play than Prince any day. Unfortunately, that doesn't change your point on Goins. That says a lot about Prince.

That was the worst halftime experience of any event I've been too, ever.

1. Smith and Chism need to look for their shot more.
2. Glad to see Tatum starting over Prince, but Prince just needs to go to the bench and stay. That reverse slam attempt was stupid in a close game.
3. Goins shouldn't be in the game late if he can't shoot FT's better than that.
4. I don't understand all the McBee bashing. He is our best 3 point shooter. Give him a break about his defense.
5. It was good to finally see Williams have a good game.

My thoughts exactly. That's why I wonder why he doesn't get the ball more. He is also one of our best if not the best free throw shooter we have, so why is he not in the game in the final minute when we knew they were going to foul?

I moved to Newport News from Knoxville 3 days after that halftime show, what does that tell you?

On a serious note hat, do you think the closeness of the score was due to ETSU being better than most thought they were, or the UT players taking them too lightly.

Teddy Bear (B. Williams) had a nice game. Used his size for both posting up and rebounding. Even had a dunk (whoa).
Chism did well using his size but disappeared when ETSU went to our achilles heal (aka the dreaded 2-3 zone).
Tatum played really well. Hustled, took good shots, passed well. I think finally being healthy is allowing him to showcase skills I honestly wondered if he had.
JP and Agent 0 (Woolridge) are terrible. They bring so little. JP is lazy on D and chooses to gamble and reach vs using his quickness and length to be a true lock-down defender. On offense, he is a nightmare. Agent 0 is lost.
Point guard play is still a weak spot. Defensively they are ok but offense is erratic. Neither Goins or Maze are penetrating and dishing.
Hopson has come back to earth after beating up on weak opponents. He has fallen back into long range jump shots with little penetration.
And the Rutledge Rifle is stroking it...he is a liability on D but can outscore his man to be effective. Of course that may change when we get into conference play...

In summary, a win is a win. Game opponent but not much of a challenge being so much shorter than typical opponents. Hopefully BP can continue to massage our lineups to better utilize our advantages.

I think ETSU is decent and UT has some glaring weaknesses.

If the "power surge" had occurred during the game, would they have stopped it for 15 minutes for the lights to "warm up"?
