That lecture is perfectly in line with Pearl's "nobody loves me" attitude anytime someone criticizes him. He expects the fanbase to mindlessly accept whatever is put on the floor simply because it's better than Wade Houston's efforts.

Exactly.

That mindless acceptance is disguised by the noble charge of typical rationalizing statements resembling "Look at what UT was before BP".

The more I listen to Pearl, the more I'm thinking somebody is getting too comfortable in their job.

8. I wonder what marketing genius convinced ETSU to adopt their mascot/logo. It looks like the creepy ghost pirate from Scooby Doo.

I was looking at the logo last night and could not figure out what it reminded me of. You hit the nail on the head, thanks.

I do not have a problem with him protecting his players in the media. A lot of coaches go this route publicly and chew butts in practice and make players accountable. It is fair to have concern about the lack of accountability, but there is plenty of season to correct mistakes.

I agree about protecting players from the media, especially at the college level. However, I do think there is a difference between protecting players in the media and fueling comparisons to Lofton via his rationalizing of Hopson not meeting expectations.

IMO it probably would've been better for BP to say Chris is Chris and Scotty is Scotty. Forget high school accolades and NBA possibilities. Remind the fans that the next game is what's most important and that a young guard has room to improve and needs support.

THIS is why i will never respect Pearl and will always KNOW that we could be doing much better.

Year after year, I'm seeing no improvement in the areas of the game we are so woefully lacking in...halfcourt O and D, FT shooting, PG play post CJ Watson, shot selection...and our fullcourt press is nowhere near what it used to be. This is a very frustrating team to watch. I expect we will make the tourney for a quick exit just because the SEC is that wretched.

I've been willing to give Pearl the benefit of the doubtbut his failure to address glaring weaknesses year after year is concerning. I'm starting to think his early success was all Lofton and Smith.

I think you're onto something.... (assuming you mean JaJuan, who would definitely make my all-time UT "most underrated" starting 5)
