If "I listen to him?" Did he tell everyone he sent the Pumps begging after the Arizona job? Did he tell everyone he all but crawled to Bloomington in an attempt to get that job? If you believe what he says, more power to you.

This is laughable, especially from the guy who says Pearl wasnt a real candidate for the Memphis job. Where do you find your info? Although, if you think about it CBP is a heck of a promoter and he probably wants his name in every coaching circle possible. I believe he will leave eventually for a big time program but it will be because he did something very special here.........like a final four or a NC. He is a special coach and has taken our program to the next level. Enjoy him while he is here. Regardless of what Hatvol will tell you Pearl is raising AD eyebrows across the country.................

Cal is a joke...whatever they achieve there will be vacated, as usual.

I'd rather have Bruce any day of the week.

I will give him his due; he has brought a lot of regular season excitement.

Also changed the culture regarding mens hoops at Tenn, put the mens team on the map, is finallllly starting to recruit studs.. The thing is.. Tenn is getting soooo much media coverage and its going to help sooo much in the next 5 years with recruiting.. some 16 year old stud was watching vs Kansas and Kentucky and thinking how cool it would be to play for Bruce and the Vols.. That never would have happened if you would have gotten a different mid major stud coach or some rehashed assistant from a big program. He did the same thing at Milwaukee.. I went to a UWM game 2 weeks ago.. no intensity, no talent.. no hype.. when Bruce left he took it all to Tenn.

1. Another fabulous home win. It's always good to send the home folks to their cars happy.
2. Having to win it at the end is better than waltzing as they did for the first 25 minutes. Game pressure gets you ready to play one and done.
3. Anyone who wonders why Scotty Hopson is so maddening need only watch the sequence at 67-65. He goes up soft and gets a shot blocked by Darius Miller, then drills the knockout 3.
4. John Wall and Eric Bledsoe put up decent numbers, but Bobby Maze and Melvin Goins held their own with them. UT killed Wall and Bledsoe with those little inside exchanges in the first half.
5. That's JP Prince's best game at UT. He was the best player on the floor all day.
6. Wayne Chism and Brian Williams did an excellent job against Demarcus Cousins. Take away the leakout hoops and he wasn't a huge factor.
7. Both teams need to worry less about the officials. Each lost their composure and gave the other team a run by sulking.
8. Two wins next week might well give Tennessee the kind of seed that would make their survival to the seond weekend of the NCAA Tournament likely.
9. Kentucky got back into the game because Tennessee got tentative with the ball. You protect a lead on offense.
10. Can we please dispense with the cheap middle school wretling show pyro during Jaqui Pearl's anthems? She does a good job and that stuff just looks cheap.

Wow, thanks for the insight Capt. Obvious

As quick as they hang the banner, they will be taking it back down, that is why.

I'll believe it when I see it - that may happen at Umass and Memphis - but won't happen at UK. Cal isn't that dumb to let something happen a 3rd time (and under a bigger microscope) - plus it's UK.

Yes, because his past actions have clearly had a major negative impact on his career to this point. I'm sure he's learned his lesson...

Not really what Cal is doing - but what he's not doing - just looks the other way. That may or may not jive at UK this point after Tubby and then off the stuff court will Billy G.

And where do you get that information? From someone you know in the coaching profession that probably feels the same way about CBP as you do? You don't have any confirmation that that happened, and I find it hard to believe you would give him the benefit of the doubt on anything. Bruce knows how to play the game and make himself some cash, but if he wanted to get another job he could get one, and probably for similar money. He's here because we're paying him well and because he wants to be.

I love how you seem to defend and respect others in the profession who have plenty of stink on them, but when it comes to Bruce you get all holier than thou.

And by the way, Hat didn't start this here, I did. He was overwhelmingly positive in his points after, but I wanted to see if he still felt Cal was consistently outcoaching Bruce. That's it. Hopefully we can all enjoy this win.

Everyone can admit Bruce has shortcomings as a coach, but to never give him credit for the type of success that he's had here is pretty ridiculous.

Don't make things up. I can guarantee you these things didn't happen in the way you mention them but we've already had this discussion you and I and I don't feel like rehashing. But no this is not what happened.
We actually have had these debates. You choose to believe who you do and I'm comfortable on the side I am.

I agree. All who know me here, know that I'm not a blue goggled idiot that will defend the program at all cost.

I know that Cal has been shady in the past. Perhaps not necessarily cheating himself, but allowing something to go on "in the shadows" with his approval.

I honestly don't say this because its my program, but I really don't believe your going to see that type of thing happen at UK, for several reasons.

1) With our past, I don't believe Lee Todd (Prez) or Barnhardt can afford to loosen the reigns any whatsoever. I believe they honestly are monitoring things as closely as they can.

2) Everyone knows the NCAA is watching Calipari with a fine tooth comb. If you think it was hard to get away with at Umass or Memphis, its triple that here at UK.

3) Quite frankly, at a Blueblood program like UK, he does not need those types of dealings to get top notch players. Players know that the path to the NBA leads through Calipari, and will gladly come to a school that competes for a NC year in, year out.

Again, Cal is no saint and his past is not clean, but I don't think you see the same issues again.

I could be wrong, in which case I will gladly help the mountain boys from Harlan bury him in a coal mine when we land in probation.

^ Good points... Although I tend to believe once a cheater, always a cheater, and you can usually tell those who did cheat that have stopped, because they become mediocre coaches. Cal may or may not be. Time will tell.

Also from you, hat. Good stuff. When I have to miss games, like today, I always go straight for your post-game thoughts.

If you don't need to cheat to get players, why is Kentucky among the most penalized programs in the history of NCAA basketball? Or are you forgetting envelopes stuffed with cash that nearly got you the death penalty in the 1980s?
